From the Good Law Project

Reports that a star journalist at the Daily Mail has been assaulting young men go back more than a decade. It’s an open secret. But the media conglomerate dismissed one man’s complaint without even interviewing him.

We’re helping him fight back and we launched a crowdfunder last week to raise funds to hold the journalist and the Mail to account.

This clearly ruffled some feathers. The Mail got to work with its lawyers and sent us defamation threats marked “private and confidential – not for publication”.

Good Law Project is no stranger to powerful people attempting to silence us. And the Mail is no stranger to dishonesty and bullying – one glance at its journalism tells you as much.

But despite its menacing tone, the Mail just doesn’t have a legal case against us. It’s protecting a sexual predator and we will not be bullied into staying quiet.

Anything you can give will help us stand up to the Mail and its threatening lawyers.

In positive news Austria has former a centrist government, keeping the far right out.

On negative news, the Tate brothers are headed to the US after Trump made a direct appeal for their release.

****ing hell. It's so upsetting to see the US going this way. I've worked with the yanks on a few occasions and I've always found them to be kind, generous and friendly. Culturally a little different (they're **** at drinking and are rubbish at understanding piss taking) but good people. It's really sad because I don't want them all tarred with this brush.

Only 77 million voted for this guy. I think the rest are getting kinda angry.

Yep. I go out to Minnesota (a hugely democratic state thankfully) to referee every year and the people there are so welcoming.

I was sweating my tits off in 30 degree heat once with **** all shade in full kit. A US full colonel went and got me a freezing cold drink from his own cooler, (it was some sort of sugared iced tea nothing has ever tasted that good,) shook my hand and was like "there you go son" ****ing legend <laugh>

I think that the majority of historians are on the Left. As a subscriber to the BBC history magazine I still find this the case albeit did my A levels influenced by the likes of Eric Hobsbawm.

I agree that Richard Starkey is a bit of right wing nutter but I think that Niall Ferguson about the British Empire from a right wing effectively even though he is not regarded by the Right. The worst Right Wing historian in my opinion is Max Hastings who lost a lot of respect for denying that British troops had carried out atrocities in Kenya.

I prefer Roman and medieval history and find this to be less political although Mary Beard in Corbynista.

David Starkey is a right wing historian. Richard Starkey is the real name of the former Beatles drummer.

Great post. A few years ago I drove Route 66 with my son in a 1965 Ford Mustang. Everyone we met, whether in small towns, or large cities, were interested and interesting in different ways. We came a cropper in Albuquerque when an old lady T-boned us. The much-maligned police were there in no time, and couldn`t have been more helpful in getting us going - they even gave is a blue light escort back to our motel in our damaged car. I`ve worked with countless yanks over years, and I don`t see them reflected in how Trump behaves sadly.

What regiment were you?

Where are the apologies from the Trump lovers for all his lying and misinformation , (it’s quite a lot)!
Where are they? That’s right, doesn’t fit their agenda……back under their rocks they hide.
