Oh look, Os has found something from the last century to brand immigrants as criminals.

In other news, the huge turnouts on the streets of Southampton, Bristol, Walthamstow, Liverpool, and all over the country shows where the sympathies of the vast majority of the population lie.

The UK will always reject racism and fascism. We did in the 30’s, the 40’s, the 50’s, the 60’s and the 70’s, and now we’re having to do it all over again.

It's your right to challenge Os, the rioters, twitter posters or anyone else but you are strongly implying that what Os has posted is so long ago he's clutching at straws or it's irrelevant in the 2000's (it wasn't only in the last century BTW, it was still happening in Rotherham in 2013) . In your eagerness to discredit him you are almost disregarding one of the most disgusting events in this country's recent history. Emotions are high I accept that but to use that as a jibe is beneath you.

The report was commissioned by Andy Burnham, mayor of Greater Manchester, when he was first elected in 2017. I was in Brighton this evening and went to the "protest" just to check it out. As much as I completely disagree with the EDL and some scenes across the country have been pretty harrowing, it would be daft to assume everyone counter protesting them was an inherently good person.

I saw at least 20 people throw things at the EDL group behind police corden and just walk away past the second police check point without being stopped at all. To the point it seemed odd that they were allowed to instigate violence and just piss off..

All sides of this incredibly polarised debate have arseholes and the rhetoric in this country is scary.

Even the debate on here is so fired up in terms of language used. Just because someone thinks differently, it doesn't make them scum, evil or an inherently awful human.

The country collectively needs to smoke some ****ing weed and chill for a few days.

That’s fair enough, and I apologise for my apparent dismissal of that horrific period of our country’s history. To be honest, I hadn’t realised that no one had been prosecuted and obviously that needs to happen, and soon.

What I object to is that people will seize upon every crime committed by people of colour (in this case a continuing series of terrible crimes) as somehow being typical of immigrants in general. They are not.

Sir Mark Rowley, the head of the Metropolitan Police, spoke to us earlier, saying 70% of the people arrested over violent anti-immigrant protests already have criminal records.

To confirm that this is a minority and I know this is a minority and any abuse from the left should be clear that it is of this minority

I have friends who were in Finchley last night, not heard anything from them at all about anti semitic material.

Finchley is just up the road from me btw. I was campaigning for Sarah Sackman during the GE, anti Semitism didn’t come up at the doorstep at all this time.

The MP for Finchley reported it to the police. Take a look. The material and screenshots from the various WhatsApp/telegram groups made clear that no jews were allowed, that they wish to rid the streets of Finchley of nazis and Zionists (most of finchley’s population is Zionist) was on the banner for the event which was widely shared.
