Having lived abroad for the last 15 years (just another immigrant trying to improve my life), I decided this year to bring my wife (a woman of colour) and baby back home to So'ton. From day one she has loved it here, and I feel so proud walking around just how multi-cultural the place is. I've been looking forward to getting her to St. Mary's to see her first live game of football. Knowing though that there will potentially be a small hidden army of right-wing racist ****s among the fan base just makes me feel very uncomfortable. I still have faith that, in this city, we are better than this.

Anybody who can't see that these rioters are the absolute most shameful dregs of society, needs to give their head a wobble. I'm so ashamed to be English at the moment.

This has gone beyond internet one-upmanship and petty squabbling. This is real life. People are scared and getting hurt.

Just be aware there are strong rumblings of something happening Wednesday evening, if you are coming for the friendly.

One of the most depressing things I've seen in this past week outside of the violence is people taking their young kids along to watch.

What sort of parent wants their primary school aged children to witness rioting? What ****ing chance do those kids have FFS.

I have joined the blocked bandwagon.

It is a shame as on other threads I like the banter etc from Os, but this is rapidly turning into a far right load of bollocks, that frankly I don't want in my day. It is not about listening to both sides, it is about cutting out the total bullshit and vile stuff that is spouted on here.

People can have other opinions and indeed just yesterday this very thread was a healthy mix without the sensationalism.

Mate it isn’t vile to point out reality.

For ages I have been saying that a large population of the country feels ignored and it would lead to riots. People called it sensationalism and hyperbole. Yet here we are. There are huge huge issues with the amount of people entering the country. Every single undocumented person could be a threat at some point in the future. This isn’t being resolved.

Combine this with the drastic deterioration of living standards and the ridiculously soft touch on crime.. it’s been a recipe for disaster for ages.

For the record - i am not racist. I am not far right. I am pro immigration if it is controlled and handled correctly. The problem is, it has become totally uncontrolled.

We have a government who is offering austerity to the citizens, whilst giving handouts to everyone else.

None of this is far right or racist. The reason we are where we are is because successive governments are refusing to listen to vast swathes of the electorate.

Remember you saying you were living in the Philippines before, my fiance is a Filipina and one of many Filipino nurses doing a stellar job for this country at UHS/SGH, I couldn't be prouder of her and I am in no doubt she contributes more to this country in her little finger than these rodent troglodytes achieve in their entire miserable, gutter existence.

I am hopeful that the people of Southampton will firmly reject any attempt to attack any minority ethnicity populations, there is a rumour that the EDL are going to rock up at Cumberland Place on Wednesday (funnily enough when we play Lazio at St Marys), but will definitely be keeping an eye out to try and ensure that we avoid any potential risks.

This is the Conservative legacy of coddling these absolute morons and depleting policing as well as wider law and order, it has enabled them to feel confident enough to put their heads above the parapet.

I wouldn't say I am ashamed to be English as such because I see them as anti-English and anti-British as they dont have the countries values and interests at heart. But I am very angry about it and honestly struggle to stop myself from wishing violence upon these individuals.

I do acknowledge this is also because the Government of the UK has failed the people of this country for too long (through poor access to education and support) and left some of our poorest open to radicalization, but some would always have grown up to be facist ****s.

I meant in my post. Of course there have been racist twats out the last couple of weeks. I would never deny that. It’s disgusting.

My point is that the government are incorrectly labelling everyone - even those with VALID CONCERNS as far right. It’s exacerbating the problem. By pretending everything is fine, labour are causing more and more unrest.

Also, I could equally post videos and images of Muslims out hunting white people this week. There were people with swords shouting Allah Akbar last night in Plymouth, or destroying pubs in Birmingham. There are bad eggs in every community that take it too far.

We are seeing a complete failure of leadership and government in listening to people concerns and this is the result. The extremists come out on top.

I'm not sure they were planning to do it legally tbh.

Also I know its not a surprise, but the Daily Echo commentariat have gone full mask off with the top comments supporting the riots. Absolutely frothing at the mouth that Satvir Kaur, Darren Paffey and Lorna Fielker have condemned it, because apparently Labour have no right to represent a city that clearly wanted Reform UK (despite 2/3 MPs and the Council all being Labour).

So that will be a couple of 70+ year old men from Fawley rocking up at least.
