They are in a chaotic mixture of desperately throwing **** at the wall to see what sticks, kowtowing to fringe extremists in the party to try and keep their government from collapsing, throwing goodies at themselves, their backers and their members while they are still in power and trying to salt the earth for a potential future Labour government and deliberately sabotaging the country in the process.

Case in point - There is a cost of living crisis, the majority of the electorate are feeling the pinch and want solutions and a light at the end of the tunnel. So the cornerstone policy of the Conservative conference is.... cancelling the most significant infrastructure project in the country. Oh but you can't vote on it because they are enacting it immediately and selling all of the compulsory purchased property in a rush before the next election at a loss, because reasons.
Selling the land off stops a labour government from easily carrying on the project and maybe succeeding. It's a childish, bitter decision akin to a kid taking his ball home and stopping the footie game because he's **** at football

I'll have to try a VPN to register being overseas. I maybe able to find it elsewhere.

There’s a bit near the end I really liked where he impresses the Lawyer he’s been chatting to with how he managed to fill potholes at Amazons expense and avoid any chance of them getting the money back

You complete woke bar steward.

The problem with Amazon is that for a customer it is just sooooo bloody good. Try buying anything on-line and in general customer service is shoddy at best. With Amazon you know if you don't want it you just send it back. However, we have to think about what happens then. Often things are coming from small firms who've signed up to the Amazon platform so what the **** do they do with the stuff we send back that isn't in a re-saleable condition.

Amazon is akin to battery chickens. Everybody knows it lacks morality, but people want cheap chickens. All of which proves that capitalism is fine in theory but just doesn't work well in practice!

Now there's Temu.

That stuff about the bankers bonus payment is bollocks really, and a very lazy prod against a government where there is plenty of legitimate things to take aim for. The firms need to compete against a global backdrop, and need to attract and retain talent - do you really think Kier Starmer will reverse this when he gets in.

This is the sort of **** you Labour supporters cling on to when in reality it makes you look petty and narrow. Literally when there are so many things to bitch about, this isnt one, particularly one when I doubt you even know the position of your own party over the issue.

Unless I am misunderstanding, and Kier has said what he will do, then I’d love to understand how he will make the City competitive…

I had a conversation quite recently with my son, where I said that fast food delivered to your door is capitalism at it’s worst; he said “Yeah, and it’s best.”

Whatever the arguments, the optics of doing this now is appalling. The fact the government can’t see that, is testimony to how totally out of touch they are; either they are completely stupid or completely contemptuous of the electorate. Not a good look either way.

The way to restore the City’s status is to rejoin the single market btw.

I thought this was already announced as going back a while ago, when Truss and the other fella announced it.

Sure, the Gov could now pull it, but no party would pull it leading up to a GE. So no, I don’t believe they are either stupid or contemptuous.

I think they actually don’t know what to do, as they are pretty ****ed, in GE terms.

Should be interesting to see what another party can do for us all, yet I doubt it will do for all of us.

Yes, and the customs union which together would include freedom of movement. Brexit has failed and cost the UK financially and culturally, gone from a position of influence and respect.

I agree with you: there should be action in North America and Europe to bring them in line with the UK's limitations on bonuses, such that your banks don't need to worry about competing by shoveling outrageous amounts of wealth to executives. Heck, it'd likely be best to expand it to other industries as well.
