The reaction of Israel is looking closer and closer to genocide by the day. The widespread bloodthirsty international support for this wholesale destruction of Gaza is sickening.

It seems like Hamas/ Iran have goaded Israel in to a massive over reaction that will likely see a break down in talks between Israel and it's neighbours. A strategic victory for Iran's fundamentalist regime.

Hardly a controversial view but I hope that Bibi is and his cabinet of extremists are put in their place by Biden, otherwise this could escalate to an unrecoverable position.

The people in Gaza do not deserve to continuously be pawns in this game.

His visit is in a pickle.

The aim would have been to outwardly back Israel, but in the background work to try and soothe tensions and try to pull Israel back a bit. But now things are rapidly escalating and other leaders are pulling away he has very little to work with.

Isn’t Sunak planning to visit as well?

Didn’t realise that - Definition is basically speakers of Jewish/Arabic languages

Which means we should avoid being prejudiced against Jews and Arabs on the basis of ethnicity, which seems perfect to me

Criticising Hamas and Israeli Government is political not ethnic

That’s the trouble, there is no control over crossings from Bath & North East Somerset whatsoever. Many people from my village go to Midsomer Norton to buy groceries without having to show their passports. I think we should take back control.

Yes. I agree. Much better to wait than condemn either side. But it is interesting:

A hospital in Ashkelon, Israel is hit by rockets fired by Hamas on October 8th.

Silence.

A hospital in Gaza is hit on October 17th.

When those rockets might be Israeli - worldwide outrage and condemnation.

When it turns out they might actually be Palestinian - silence.

I don’t think there’s silence when “it turns out they might actually be Palestinian”. I can tell you from the Reuters perspective at least, they’re independently working very hard to try and verify what happened, and that’s with the backdrop of one of their journalists being killed last week by an Israeli missile in Lebanon.

Still applies in general across the media landscape though. They all took Hamas at their word and it has caused untold hatred toward Israel.

I would question if a blast that size could even kill 500-800 people. The entire thing could be Hamas propaganda at this point.

But even the BBC has the reports that it could have been a Palestinian missile gone wrong on its front page, so I wouldn't say there was anything like 'silence' in that being reported. Quite the opposite. The truth is that nobody can say with any certainty.

All I am saying is that many articles and politicians should hang their heads in shame for trying to drum up anti-Israel rhetoric without waiting for the facts. Jeremy corbyn, vile man that he is, still hasn’t removed his tweet which is borderline calling for violence. There were many similar outbursts - the BBC was particularly bad.


In other news, Putin just said (paraphrasing) “this is not a threat - but the US aircraft carriers are within range of our hypersonic missiles”

And the US positioning an aircraft carrier off the coast of Gaza isn't a threat...?

Where are the worldwide crocodile tears for Palestinian children?

Do the people of Gaza get to seek retribution for the slaughter of their innocent victims?

The gaslighting on this is laughable.
 
Would love to see this tweet. Corbyn is many things but he is also a pacifist. Shocked if he is calling for violence.

Expecting any truth in this conflict is maybe asking too much, sadly. They aren't fighting for land but for ideology - and that is a war best fought through (mis)information. I always find videos of grieving Palestinians difficult as they a) are so choreographed, and b) there never seem to be any women around.

But, an orchestrated picture does not remove the possibility of truth.
