Onion man didn't think William Dees existed and you seem to have taken his word for it without any research of your own. Considering what you have written above, you've let yourself down. Let's face it both of you have been more concerned with trying to discredit me than having any real answers, and the reason for that is you don't have any. Drag artists are adult entertainers and many have criminal records, they should be nowhere near young children and if that is not grounded in reality enough for you, then maybe you should think about your values.

I'm interested why you think I said Dees didn't exist.

I'm also keen to know where the image of a child sex offence conviction came from: do you have the site from which it's a screenshot? As I said, happy to be proven wrong about his being a convicted *****phile. Also as I said, evidence required, and in these days of Photoshop the source matters.

Debunked by who? Onion and Schad? <laugh>

"Cut and paste", "right wing attacks" blah blah blah I've read all this blather before. You only seem to be able to repeat what onion says, can't you come up with anything original?
Read the first sentence of my post you appear to have ignored it. "No one on here is defending the 'perpetrators' or denying institutional abuse." As you incorrectly claim.

IOAG, can I also ask a hypothetical question?

If the internet didn't exist and you didn't know about drag acts in libraries 4,000 miles away, would you still be as angry about this subject as you clearly are? I may well have missed some posts (I take long breaks from forums and social media for sanity purposes) but it definitely feels like this is the only thing in the entire field of politics on which you have opinions. On a day to day basis what effect does this story (even if every single word of it proved to be true) have on you?

You're conflating a small number of perpetrators, some of which appear to have been entirely fabricated, with a whole class of people. That's what bigotry is, sunshine. Thinking that the actions of a very small percentage of a group -- any group -- reflect on the group as a whole.
This is the crux of it for me, how many teachers, policemen, members of the clergy and tv and radio personalties have been convicted of child abuse?
There are *****philes in many walks of life and they will find ways of getting access to children, christ Jimmy Savile even had a kid's tv show.
We should blame the individual and not the vilify the whole of their profession.

On the topic of *****philes, this was in the press this morning.

A MOTHER who killed a sex offender is campaigning to stop *****philes changing their names to hide their criminal history.

Sarah Sands stabbed Michael Pleasted, 77, eight times in 2014 after her children said he had sexually abused them.

It emerged Pleasted, thought of as a friendly neighbour on their East London estate, had changed his name from Robin Moult to conceal a history of offending against children.

Ms Sands, 39, told BBC Breakfast: “For *****philes, if you touch children, there has to be consequences.

“That right to change their name has to taken away.” Ms Sands was convicted of manslaughter on the basis of loss of control after an Old Bailey trial in 2015. Her jail term was raised to seven-and-a-half years by the Court of Appeal as it was “too lenient”.

Labour MP Sarah Champion told the BBC some offenders use name changes to avoid criminal checks for jobs including working with children. She said: “Once they change their names, they are able to get a driving licence and passport in that name.

“That enables a new DBS check. These people then go into schools and other places and exploit their positions of trust in horrific ways.” The Home Office said the UK has strict rules to deal with sex offenders living in the community.

You can ****ing well take that back. When have I ever done that?

This is where drifting around the bottom of the internet gets you. You become more and more angry as the pushers of this* work hard to enrage you. You end up calling people you'd like if you met in the the pub** *****phile defenders. I very much doubt someone would say it face-to-face. It's all driven by the rage; you end up seeing people as enemies rather than just as people who have a different viewpoint.

Actually, it's made me realise I need another break from the internet.

Toodle-pip.

Vin

* Note, I'm annoyed at the pushers of this "anti-everyone-who-isn't-exactly-like-me" rage, not the victims who end up angry about something that doesn't affect them.

** I've met Chilcs in a pub and I can attest that he's a jolly nice person.

There is a link to this in the argument that is going on higher up the thread

Because this is right - they shouldn’t be able to change their names especially if it gets around checks.

OK, here’s another example of child abuse. Downside School, the most expensive Catholic public school in the country as far as I know, is a few hundred yards from where I live. Downside, and its sister school Ampleforth, were until recently years run by Benedictine monks, who in Downside’s case were housed at the Abbey next door to the school.

Over a period of years, a culture of sexual abuse of pupils developed, at Ampleforth on children as young as 7, and at Downside among 11 year olds. The school authorities, the Abbey hierarchy, and the Roman Catholic Church, systematically covered up any evidence of this abusive culture, until eventually 10 monks were convicted in the early 2000’s. In 2018 the church finally apologised for the abuse and the cover up. There are no monks at Downside Abbey or Downside School any more.

Full report here, and it’s not for the faint-hearted:
https://www.iicsa.org.uk/reports-re...igation/ampleforth-downside/executive-summary

The reason I dredge this awful tale up is to make the point that this is an example of cultural sexual abuse embedded in the structure of an organisation. A similar example was the blind eye turned towards Jimmy Savile throughout his career, and of course there is the case of Bob Higgins at Southampton FC. All these examples show that *****philia is institutionalised in this country and is not something that should be ignored or glossed over. There are obviously also countless examples of sexual abuse of children from their own family members.
Just in one year, 2016-17, there were over 43,000 cases of sexual offences against children under 16 in England alone.

That there are members of the LGBTQ+ community who engage in *****philia is quite likely, although I can find no statistics about this. It’s even possible that there are trans *****philes. There is certainly no evidence that there is a greater incidence than in the population as a whole, which I think, although I am not sure, was the point IOAG was making.

It’s othering. Get people focussing on a minority, rather than the cost of living, energy prices, all the other **** going down. Classic divide and rule.

I don’t think it’s a government or press ploy though. It’s othering being driven by people with ****ing odd agendas. It’s not centralised or mainstream.

As in - pretty much all the (mainstream) press right now is about cost of living, energy prices etc. Not this. So that assertion doesn’t really stack up.
