I keep hearing the Tory MPs refer to the state of our economy as being a global problem, yet according to the ONS, the other 6 members of the G7 countries are on a par with their pre-pandemic economy or better.

NUMBER CRUNCHING: Bottom of the league UK is the only G7 major economy yet to recover to pre-pandemic levels of real GDP. ONS stats show ours is dismally -0.2% below December 2019 levels, with Germany back level and Japan, France, Italy, Canada and top-of- the-table USA (+2.6%) all expanding. There are lies, damned lies and Tory economic failure.

Hope people aren’t swayed by this U-turn.

the 45% tax cut was a grotesque policy, but it’s removal makes very little difference to the catastrophic substance of the mini-budget, which still leaves us needing to borrow circa £40bn, which the government want to balance by cutting public services further.

The attack on part time workers remains policy.

This also doesn’t rectify the damage done to the economy and pensions by deliberately hiding forecasts and by the whole plan transparently being economically illiterate.

Let no one ever forget that the Bank of England was forced to intervene to save pension funds from bankruptcy, while the hedge fund parasites made untold millions by speculation on the pound. For me, the fact that the government are completely owned by the likes of Crispin Odey is the most sinister and damning aspect of this whole sordid chapter. And they are so completely arrogant, they just don’t care that it’s now out in the open.

Just today, Rees-Mogg’s business partner, Dominic Johnson (no he’s not an amalgam of those two), his co-founder of Somerset Capital Management, has been given a peerage and a ministerial role in the Department of International Trade, the very area in which SCM operates.

The whole lot of the stinking crowd of crooks need to be locked up and banned from ever holding public office ever again.

What an unfortunate name. <laugh> Wonder if there's a Boris Cummings out there?

The benefits of being a Cabinet Minister.
If they change the leader again, and they change the cabinet again then another bunch of worthless tosses will get a windfall.

FORMER Tory ministers are set to be handed more than £410,000 in redundancy payments – even though some of them were only in their jobs for days.

Boris Johnson will get an £18,860 golden goodbye with former Cabinet min-isters including Dominic Raab in line for £16,876.

Karl McCartney will pocket £5,593 even though he spent just 63 days as a junior transport minister as he was appointed in the dying days of Mr Johnson’s government.

Under ministerial rules they are entitled to 25% of the annual salary.

Liberal Democrat Christine Jardine said the MPs should “do the decent thing and pass up their payoffs for the good of the country”.
