I actually have an idea regarding Matt, but I need to speak to my wife and use her contacts. Let's see if he really is interested in 'the truth'.
Surely he is too far down the rabbit hole now. He is now in that unfortunate realm where it is too embarrassing to admit you were utterly wrong (and a complete dick about it). It is the position many in America are in and they just double and triple down instead

I sometimes listen to a couple of YouTubers who take this “anti-establishment” line and the ones I listen to at least say - just because the media has lied about loads of things recently it doesn’t mean they lie about everything.

But in this case it seems to be because one is Russian with Ukrainian links and knows it is true and know Putin’s narrative is all lies (and when I say ALL lies i really do mean every word)

But oddly it still hasn’t seemed to make them go back and re-evaluate earlier stances on other issues. Which intriguing to say the least (although now I think about it - getting really ill with covid made them reassess their vax position slightly)

But they have suggested that other people in that space (that people like Russell Brand now occupy) are completely wrong on this issue. And Le Tiss is in this category

I can’t fathom what it would take to turn him around.

The same people say covid has broken people’s brains. I think *they* meant it with respect to people (on the left) prepared to accept weak arguments and constantly changing science for removing civil liberties and the like. But it has clearly done the same to people on “their” side of that debate. Driven otherwise seemingly normal people into the arms of conspiracy theory peddlers

Okay, wheels are in motion. Let's see.

What a complete and utter ****. I see he is now playing the 'as always, you've all misunderstood what I really meant!' card because people told him that his previous comment was something a **** would say. Embarrassing. Why do so many people find it hard not to make a tw4t of themselves online?

Matty might have some batty ideas, but distrust of the narratives we are routinely sold by the media isn’t so daft tbh.
Yes of course after years of misinformation and downright lies peddled as news distrust is the default position of many. That in no way excuses the bullshit MLT is posting. His ability on the pitch has to be separated from his public persona. Bloody shame.

It’s completely legitimate to question anything you’re told by anyone, that’s a good scientific approach to life. What isn’t acceptable is just reversing the conclusions of scientific evidence with no evidence of your own.

It's fine to question a narrative, but to routinely distrust *everything* is utterly bonkers.

My wife had a colleague called Danish Siddiqui - he was a Pulitzer winning photographer that worked at Reuters. He was out in Afghanistan when the Americans withdrew. Reuters wanted to pull him out, but he refused and said "If I'm not here doing this, then nobody will know the truth".

The Taliban murdered him and mutilated his body.

These are the people that Matt is disrespecting and whose integrity he is calling into question. It's so insulting, and so naive.

Well apart from not606 and one other forum, I don't do social media so I don't really know what he's been saying tbh. But in a world where questioning the official narrative is often regarded as heresy, I'm reluctant to join calls to burn the heretic at the stake.

That brings MLT's thought process into further doubt.

There's been several MLT twitter posts that many find offensive, if that's the right word. They shouldn't go without criticism. Some use harsher language than others.

I think if you spent 5 mins looking at his twitter, you would struggle to remember the great goals and sheer genius of him after that.

I have met him on numerous occasions in the past (he even came over and said "Hello Mark how are you?" at Wembley in hospitality), and he always seemed humble and a great guy. I really don't want to meet him again as I think I would struggle with his narrative.

I said it before, there are new rules in life:

Don't meet your Heroes
Don't read your Heroes Social Media.

Private Eye Issue 1570:
Prime Minister's WhatsApp Group Chat Greetings! What’s App, Doc?

Top joke from the Bozzter to launch my new for-your-eyes-only security conscious, highly encrypted end-to-end auto-delete-as-soon-as-you’ve-read-it message system! Don’t want to be caught out by the Ruskies finding out about what I’m up to. Not to mention Sue Gray or the Met. Or Keir Starmer. Or Carrie.

Carrie Johnson

I’m reading this, you know.

Ben Wallace

Is that you, Prime Minister?

Carrie Johnson

Yes.

Ben Wallace

Phew! You can’t be too careful with these comedians pretending to be the Prime Minister.

That’s a bit rude, Ben!

Ben Wallace

They were Russian pranksters pretending to be the Ukrainian Prime Minister. They wanted to know about the UK’s plans to help the Ukraine.

Cripes! I hope you didn’t tell them we don’t have any. Next time tell them we’re on the case and have set up a dedicated pop-up information desk at Calais (open Monday to Wednesday, afternoons only) where they can access the secrets within ten months, so long as they’ve filled in the correct 50-page form and a UK family are prepared to sponsor them, even though they don’t know their names.

Priti Patel

Brilliant! I’m lovin’ it!

It’s the Pritster! How did she get into the group?

Priti Patel

I’m Home Secretary.

Still? Cripes. You’ll be telling me Liz Truss is still Foreign Secretary next.

Liz Truss

Yes I am.

Ah, the Trusster! What’s App, Liz?

Russian comedian

You’ve done that joke.

Priti Patel

How did he get in?

Russian comedian

Simples! I gave large donation to play ping-pong with the not-very convincing prankster pretending to be the UK Prime Minister.
