I saw a comment, this morning, that a new poll indicated that 39.5% of people would still vote for the Tories, if there were a vote tomorrow.
The stupidity of the English race is monumental, because it is only them that keep the Tories in power.

Problem is that people don’t see an alternative.
Almost every person that I speak to (over the age of about 40) hates Labour and blames them for the country’s problems even this long into Tory party rule. It’s very hard to overcome years of propaganda.
I genuinely think people hate the tories, but hate the alternatives more

Sadly propaganda is the biggest issue.
I have heard Mail and Express readers criticising the Russian public for believing Putin’s lies, then argue a political point based on a proven lie in their paper.
We desperately need to change the voting system, but I don’t think that is likely, even if Starmer was to get into power.
Pretty much every election, where the Tories gain a majority in the house, they do it despite the majority of the vote being for left of centre parties.
This is just wrong and undemocratic.
As for alternatives, I think if you were to ask what it is about this country, that the public most like, it would include the NHS, the welfare state, social care, social housing and so on, all socialist principles, mainly introduced by the Labour Party.
I genuinely despair for the future of our young.
It appears to be coming down from the peak, but not enough.
I mean the bigger point is that 39.5% shouldn’t be enough to give you absolute power, but we have a system that allows 39.5% of voters absolute control over the entire population.
I think democracy is now totally broken to be honest.
For me we need wholesale change in the underlying systems to make them more modern. For example, using modern technology it would be totally possible to keep track of where taxpayers money is going. It would also be possible to have way more referendums on important matters, or at least give more people a say.
MPs that are elected to represent us no longer represent us. Most MPs are dishonest at best and outright corrupt at worst.
Unfortunately all of the people with money and therefore power are incentivised to keep the system the same and **** over as many people as possible.

This country isn't a socialist country anymore. People enjoy the benefits that were won by socialism but attitudes have changed and that is down to, in general, a better living standard across the masses. Socialism is strongest when people are facing severe poverty and ironically, it is the welfare state that has helped save people from suffering in the way their ancestors did. Unfortunately, this relative prosperity has made a lot of today's society arseholes. They may talk a good socialist game but when it comes to it, in their eyes the poor, the unemployed, those on benefits etc are worthless scroungers and in truth, the me, me society is evident in large numbers.
Labour are out of touch with the general population. They are seen as the party of woke (for want of a better word) and not in a good way, the silent majority are fed up of being told what they can say and do. Labour and the Lib Dems are leading the way and when they struggle to even describe what a woman is they are seen as ridiculous to most people. When the country will accept lying, corruption, ineptness and just about anything else before voting Labour, you have to question their (Labour's) stance.

It’s worse than that when it comes to the perception of the “party of the woke”.
For starters they still have accusations of anti-semitism sticking to them that don’t even seem like they need to be true. And it undermines all the moral righteousness of their other stances. The path they have chosen requires them to be whiter than white and they just aren’t. No one can be. People are human. But people seem to hold their noses and ignore Tory corruption as it is just expected and baked in. It isn’t right but it is where we are.
And then you move onto how a lot of their positions seem to being forced upon them by a distinct shouty minority. If you listened to a recent clip where Starmer was asked to define a woman and if a woman could have a penis you will hear the blustering of a man who clearly doesn’t believe the line he is forced to take. He just doesn’t. You have a trained QC who should be able to confidently speak on any position but he can’t do it because deep down he personally doesn’t believe it. But he can’t say otherwise - or doesn’t feel like he can
But still.... If the anti Tory voter got it's act together we would get a left of centre government, with Libs and Labs making the most of the suituation.. Leading to a meaningful change in the voting system that could keep the Tories out for ever..
See i think this is a really valid point, and resonates with me.
I honestly wouldn’t know which way to vote, but half the vitriolic posts on here just make me laugh, and makes it actually hard to think about voting for Labour. I mean one I read earlier was calling people stupid if they vote conservative, and no one seems to be really looking into why they may vote that way. I mean calling people stupid for the way they want to vote is just ignorant and disrespectful, people vote their way for many reasons.
I started working at a company about 7 years ago, and they rarely won any new customers. I reviewed the processes, and how they approached winning work and spoke to the people who didnt give us work and asked them why, and really got under the skin.
It changed the way we approached things, allowed us to regroup and change, and they started winning. Posts like you get on here in the main just go on and on about how **** and corrupt and stuff, with very few things actually saying how it can change, which would surely be a start people need to see to change votes. I mean, i never vote, and i am likely to do so at the next GE, but I wouldn’t know the best fit. I mean, do we vote to suit our circumstances i am in financially, work wise etc right now, or to help my children when they get older etc.
It is really hard to understand and actually get to the nub of all this.
That's all fair comment Billy, and I sympathise with a lot of that. Personally, I fail to understand how anyone who isn't a millionaire would ever vote Conservative but I would never question their right to do so.
On the Labour Party, or the left generally, I have always thought that there are a significant minority of people who make the perfect the enemy of the good. The Corbynistas would much rather the Tories were reelected than Starmer became PM, just because he isn't as perfect s socialist as they want him to be. That's been the case on the left in this country as long as I can remember, and it is the main reason why the Tories have been in power for the vast majority of my long lifetime, curse them.
There are hints that there is a very unofficial, unspoken, tacit non-aggression pact between the Lib-Dems and Labour forming. If this happens, it would make me very happy indeed.

He stands up in the House of Commons and publicly denounces the release of Tracey Connelly (mother of Baby P), on parole, saying that he will fight it.
Meanwhile it is discovered that a junior minister from his own department, acting on his behalf, had agreed her release.
Raab’s response, when being caught out was to say that he was “unaware” of the part played by his junior minister, at the time he had made his comments.
So, just like Johnson, he is hanging a “lesser” staff member out to dry, to save his own duplicitous neck.
And, just like Johnson, he doesn’t seem to know what is going on around him, or that is what he would like us to believe.

I have always wondered why people would ever want to vote for anyone other than Labour. Theoretically, anyone who relies on an income should be feeling that it is in their interest to do so. I think the Tories get elected because of proposed tax cuts which immediately have an impact on income but a lot of voters are unable to see that a Tory government will get this back by other means. There is also the fact that Tory voters feel that , if they have a job, other people should have one too. the other factor is Law & Order which Tory voters perceive to be a real problem for Labour. This is effectively the limit of their appeal.
For me, the major problem with Labour is the kind of people they seem to attract as both Leaders and PMs. The problem is that they seem to elect really poor leaders. These days, the fact that many politicians do this for a career and come from a legal background also makes it difficult for the voters to connect with them. If Labour chose people who ordinary working class folk could relate to and not people already on good incomes, I think voters would relate to them. People on low income cannot relate to people like Starmer. This is why Corbyn was massively popular - he was seen as ordinary. There is no reason why Laabour should not be in power for long periods - the fact that they don't is largely due to the fact is due to their MPs being so different to their members and also to the voters.
