For the record, there wasn’t a poll about having a politics thread, so I’m not sure what Fats voted on. The mods had a discussion privately, and the consensus, after a lot of discussion, was that with the Brexit referendum on the horizon, it was better to have a separate thread to which politics could be confined, rather than have it keep cropping up on other threads. That has largely worked, and although we have had a few spats, no one to my knowledge has ended up being banned or silenced because of their political views. The incident which Fats referred to actually turned out OK in the end, and I’d prefer it if we didn’t bring it up again.
My view is that there is still a place for this thread, as long as everyone’s point of view is respected, and that personal insults are not resorted to. If I have been less than vigilant on clamping down on personal attacks, I apologise, and I will try and keep a lid in things in the future. I would remind everyone that all opinions are valid, and that no one is to feel excluded because they don’t agree with what appears to be a majority on any topic.
That's just it, people express their opinion as they see it, there just happens to be a left of centre majority on this thread. It's a shame that Imps doesn't post any longer because because he was a good contributor coming from a different perspective.
I honestly can't recall any personal insults on this thread and it is an individual choice if someone leaves a Saints forum just because they can't agree on the politics thread.
