I know where you’re coming from.
Any person seeing what is happening, and then defending it, condoning it and continuing to support it has to be, IMO, as bad as the people doing it.
I might be going overboard, but I think Johnson, with the support of Cummings, poses the greatest threat to the working people of this country, since Adolf Hitler.
Civilian death toll, during WW2, was 70000, with 40000 killed during the Blitz.
Announced deaths, during the pandemic are approaching 37000, with the FT, last time I saw, putting it north of 60000.
But pandemic deaths and their ill concealed attempt to go with herd immunity aside, it is the division he is creating across the UK, as well as within families, that makes him so very dangerous.
I have never wished anyone dead, but Johnson surviving the coronavirus, isn’t in this country’s best interests. He is the glue that is holding a very nasty party together. And it’s his “cheeky chappy” persona, that disguises his bigoted and nasty side from many, that is attracting votes from people who wouldn’t normally even give the Tories the time of day. He and his ministers are normalising nastiness. Fecking hate they guy, truth be told.
Sorry if this offends anyone, but that is how I feel.

It is interesting how few of the normally government-supporting posters on this site have been able to log in today, in order to justify the clear, sensible approach followed by Dominic (Blessed be his name) Cummings. I expect they are all visting relatives. Ooops, sorry, following government guidelines.
Well said, FLT! It’s so feckin despicable, I’m struggling to believe that the public can be so bloody apathetic to accept this. There should be an immediate repayment to anyone who has been fined for breach of lockdown and everyone should take to the streets (masked and keeping social distancing rules) to complain against this blatant disregard for the “little man”.

I can see the point of calling for Cumming's head in the light of the sacrifices other people have had to make but it is disappointing if this is the best people have to pin on him. I think there will be far worse to come regarding his influence in any future enquiry and I can envisage a situation where he may had had undue influence on the government's policy to deal with Covid. I cannot see Cummings challenging scientific data although I can readily imagine him manipulating the data he had sight in order to influence policy. To be honest, if there is going to be a fall guy in all this, it will be Hancock who will be sacrificed first.
With regard to Badger's comment, I would have to add that I have not heard one person state that they believe Boris is doing a good job. The most positive remark you hear is the kind of comment made by my sister that he has a difficult job to do. No one believes that Boris is doing it well. He was unfortunate to be laid low by the virus at the point when it was at it's most virulent but you cannot say he had grabbed the mettle since returning to is job. His absence has seen Nicola Sturgeon's stock rise considerably both in Europe and the UK . Sir Keir Starmer's arrival on the scene has now shown Boris in an even worse light.
I think that any statement that Boris poses the greatest threat since Hitler needs to be put in context. In 1939 the country was similarly ill-prepared and faced a better equipped and trained army which has already benefitted from experience learned from the Spanish Civil War. The consequences of losing the war in 1940 would have had catastrophic effects on the civilian population in terms of mass murder and the substantial loss of civil liberties. Having Boris in control, no matter how catastrophic, will not lead to anything as bad as this. However, I am at a loss to think of any other Prime Minister who has been so inept, certainly since 1900. It seems abundantly clear to me that the majority he secured in December will probably be reversed to the same extent in the next election. Even the Tories seemed to recognise this in the last week. I have said this before on here but I strongly believe Johnson will be asked to step down within the next 12 month. Sir Keir Starmer will be facing a different leader in the next election and the Tories will probably contest the election with a line up more akin to David Cameron's cabinet. If the ensuing criticism regarding Cummings does not abate over the Bank Holiday and he goes, you sense that it will probably take just one more crisis to bring the whole pack of cards down.

he is indeed. I have another mate from the same group who is a Londoner. He told us during her Tory leadership campaign what a clown Boris was as Mayor of London . He now rightly tells us what a fnck up Boris is doing... yet guess how he voted at the election.

I've really wanted to give the government as much slack as possible in such a difficult time..
But we have:
- Worst death rate in Europe
- most of the gov caught the virus
- Gov officials openly flouting the rules
- Cover ups and lies galore
In a time where the country needs leadership, we have received morons.
I've tried to stay objective at a time when so much spin, mis-information, poor media reporting and political agendas have driven events over the last few months. It's now really difficult to maintain this. Even allowing for my own confirmation bias it just seems we are subject to a slightly modified version of Trumps approach to managing events. Lie, ignore, distract, bluster, re-frame.
The strange thing is the politicians didn't need to play it this way. I think, like yourself, many were willing to reserve judgement until some version of normality returned. Even willing to understand that mistakes were made, hindsight being a wonderful thing (some of the opposition seem to be much gifted with this, forgeting what they said or didn't say 3 months ago). But no it seems our leaders can't help themselves, it's beyond sad really.
Steve Baker MP just put an Exocet through the Scummings defence campaign. Clearly a personal element to it but I believe what he says. He reckons Scummings will organise resignations from government if he is axed. Could get interesting !
