Sorry mate May was actually chosen by the people as she had a general election just after the referendum.........Boris or hunt will be chosen by the peoples representatives............The general public will get the chance at the next election.........always assuming they survive that long.
She didn’t have a majority though Beddy, she has been propped up by the DUP ever since. And where on earth do you get the idea that 160,000 Tory Party members in any way represent the public?

BTW that extremely shabby and quite frankly hugely irresponsible deal might be the reason why the Real IRA have been more active in the last couple of years.

This could be the legacy that May is so desperately looking for.

Blimey you are being a bit pedantic chilcs...........Admitted her majority was very small........Still more voted for the tories than labour and only needs support from the DUP because of the libs and other parties...........So to me that makes the 16000 tory die hards at this moment in time are the majority peoples representative as at the last general election. It would be the same for who ever is in office...as you well know

Wasn't she elected by the tory membership first before calling the election after which she could only form a government by paying off the DUP? Call that demofuckingcratic do you? Not in my book pal.

Cromwell died in his bed, it was his son Tumbledown Dick whose reign as Lord Protector was so catastrophic that the king was invited back.
They disinterred Cromwell's body and displayed it. Chopped his dead head off and put it on a spike.

It was a display of power by the people who'd had it restored to them. I have a radio doumentary [not yet uploaded to my Archive] on what happened to Oliver Cromwell's head and body after his death. It was incredibly cruel and a demonstration to the people to keep their place.

That’s how Parliament has always worked, you have to have a majority to form a government and she didn’t until the DUP came in, which cost £10 billion.

You have some strange ideas if you think 160,000 retired colonels propping up the bar in golf clubs around the country in any way represent the hugely diverse population of the UK. I still remember the vitriol Gordon Brown came in for from Boris Johnson when he took over as PM from Blair, some people have selective memories,

I’d forgotten that, but my point was that Oliver didn’t lose power.

No pal she didn't have to pay off the DUP. Are you saying the the general election was undemocratic???? Look I'm no tory sympathetic but yes she needs the Dup to support her motions going through parliament but how is that undemocratic..........

She did pay off the DUP and in doing so has compromised the fragile peace in the province under the Good Friday agreement IMO.

I thought her motions went mostly down the pan! She was made PM by the tory old farts club as will the next PM.

I think your mind is a bit Brexit minded.....she hasn't got that through because of the democratic situation in parliament......

Are you happy that our current Government is being propped up by a bunch of people (bigots) that still support marches celebrating and rubbing in a victory over another set of citizens with a different religion and beliefs from over 300 years ago?

No mate I'm not happy with how things are but know the tories are doing that which is accepted as a normal procedure in political terms. No different than a coalition......which all parties have done at diffent times.
