If Chuka was after power and advancement, then surely he would have bided his time in the Labour party for the Corbyn era to run its course? As wonderful and as enlightened the Libs Dems may be, they are hardly going to be in a position of power any time soon. And I do not think Chuka would ever become a Tory.
Being a cynic, I'm of the opinion that he sees a party he can go for leadership of - Cable is a waste of time and will be replaced soon and he sees an opportunity. Chuka doesn't mind what the party he belongs to is called, as long as he can run it.
It's then only a slight slump to the right from them to the conservatives, at least the remain faction of the Tories, so don't rule out another change if the Lib Dem route doesn't give him what he wants.

Do remember that the Strait of Hormuz is arguably strategically the most dangerous stretch of water on the planet. The fact that something doesn't happen on a weekly or monthly basis is a bit of a surprise to me, tbh.

Once upon a time it used to be fairly heavily policed.....I certainly during my career had a few months sailing up and down there although I can remember no incidents..........Only with our friends the Ruskies perhaps

You kidding loads.......Remember this was at the height of the Cold War..........but no cannot "D" notices were put on them. Especially the "bay of pigs" Cant say more..........
Do like the Boris and the brexiteers song. "Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story" tra la la.

Bernie Sanders is a Democratic Socialist Presidential candidate. He's been around for donkey's years, saying the same thing, making the same warnings. Because of Trump, and the political direction the western world has been taking, like the UK, his warnings become all the more relevant. This is a political speech he made just this last week. It's a long one, but it's well worthwhile listening to, because you can make exact comparisons to the UK sphere down through the years. To me, Sanders is Presidential. He's a conviction politician, not a BSer. If Jeremy was as clear as Bernie, I'd vote for him in a heartbeat. But he's not. Btw, you might hear echoes of Neil Kinnock's famous speech.

Notice how Boris didn't turn up for that TV debate? Reason being that he would show himself up to be a buffoon, but also because he has zero to say. Opposition parties need to ready themselves because the Tories are about to vote in a clown, and they need to show him up for what he is.
They candidate above, in the previous post, would walk all over him.

3 years ago Labour MP Jo Cox was brutally murdered by the Nazi-supporting fanatic Thomas Mair, who believed that Jo’s left-wing views and support for the European Union made her a “traitor to white people”.

RIP Jo Cox 22/06/1974 - 16/06/2016 <rose>

That's the biggest tragedy in all of this.

Love this coronation of Boris, only to find out on 22 July that the new Conservative leader and by default the next PM is ……….. Hunt!!!

PS: I do not get this lovefest for Boris within the ranks of Tory MPs at Westminster and the party membership in the wider world. Unless it is a deliberate ploy to set him up for the most spectacular falls.

Always possible I suppose.............unlikely........the debate didn't do any of them much good If the buffoon had been there I think it would have been much worse.

It’s all about saving their own skin. Polling suggests Boris is a vote winner with the electorate (I know, right? <yikes>). Tory MPs would elect Satan if they thought he’d help them keep their seats.

Word is, however, that the Prince of Darkness turned down the gig - didn’t wanna work with such an unprincipled shower of ****s.

All this doom and gloom is getting me down, big style. Here we are with a President of the USA who doesn't take any ****. Soon we'll be rid of the vicar's daughter and have a proper geezer who likes chops in number 10.

What could possibly go wrong? :emoticon-0121-angry

We should introduce euthanasia for anyone over 70. We wouldn't then be wasting the world's resources on feeding clothing and housing the poor. The money saved would enable young people to have latest smartphone, flatscreen TV, gameboy, and to get pissed every night. Let us be honest young people could have a fun time with all the money we currently waste keeping old folks comfortable in their dotage. The Eskimos had it right, push the old out to die of cold or to be eaten by a polar bear.

That’s why there’s no Eskimo word for Eastbourne (line stolen from Red Dwarf, but I always find it hilarious) :emoticon-0102-bigsm
