Of course I could see this happening! We’re a fully integrated member of the EU, and have been for over 40 years! Before I retired from the NHS part of my job was training nurses from Spain and Portugal, with the help of an interpreter, how to use the various computer systems in the hospital. That kind of thing has been happening everywhere, in every skilled job, in every profession, because people love to travel and live and work in different countries, it’s part of being a human being. As I have said before, one of my stepdaughters went to live in Spain, just because she could! But because 17.4 million people believed the fantasy that it was better for us to revert to our old, insular, foreigner-hating past, that has all been put at risk.

And it’s a bit rich, quite frankly, for someone who voted Leave to claim they didn’t actually think they would win!
Go back and look at all the polls and discussions at the time......All the main parties telling us to vote to stay...UkIP and a few others telling us different....not that I would ever have considered them. Easy for you to say now you expected this as a stayer.
Don't get me wrong whoever won was going to get stick.....that I agree with. But to say this was going to happen the way it has, quite frankly is unbelievable. Still each to their own I suppose. We will just have to agree to disagree. Sorry to say we do not have the means at the moment it seems to put a stop to this either way.
The experts
So lies on both sides, here's some leave bollocks, https://twitter.com/bydonkeys?lang=en scroll down to see the leave statements during the campaign
Let's be having the remain list I'm sure there's plenty but not to the extent of the leave propaganda by the Barclay brothers, Rothermere and Murdoch.

17.4 - 16.1 = 1.3, 3.8% that's 37% of the electorate which can't be regarded as a mandate to leave then or after 3 years on the road to nowhere.

Here's a one year on assessment by the same expert. Incidentally, I wish I'd seen his original video above at the time. It could have saved me much wrangling with people who refused to listen, but were blinded by the Leave propaganda:

Obviously the leave people felt pretty well the same then............but still the majority?

No not the majority by most reckonings, certainly a far greater number of overseas remain voters are motivated and would vote if/when another referendum was called, plus that of the new young voters and those that didn't vote last time. Oh must forget the grumpy old leavers that are dying off. All points to staying as being the will of the people. Surely there's enough sanity in the HoP to prevent a no deal scenario.

Don't know how you've got through that video already Beddy. It's longer than the time interval since I posted it.
Actually I got about half way through and was interrupted........I keep referring back as I am interested in what he has to say. Sadly I keep getting interrupted so will have to return at another time.......Oh Heck the bloody phone is going again.........

Strangely I am hoping for that too.........

Nothing strange about that Ned, I was about to say it's plain as a pike staff but there are, albeit a diminishing number, of overseas pensioners who voted leave IE pay cut and loss off health cover, some returned to the UK, others came over from the dark side some departed this mortal coil (a bright note on ascension day - the only way is up).:emoticon-0103-cool:

Not any more, quite a lot of leavers have changed their minds.

Look, let’s forget for a moment the reasons we voted why we did, as that’s all in the past and can’t be changed. Let’s look instead at where we are now, and what we know to be the case, as told to us by experts from groups like the Institute for Fiscal Studies, the Confederation of British Industry, and loads of others like Michael Dougan as in the videos posted by TSS. All of them, and even a lot of Brexiteers, are saying that we will be worse off under any kind of withdrawal agreement, whether it’s May’s deal, Norway Plus, Canada Plus, or whatever, and catastrophically worse off under a WTO Crash Brexit. Farage, Rees-Mogg, Francois and co. have all consistently lied about WTO, the reason being that the super-rich are the ONLY people who will benefit from it. The reason they are all so desperate to leave is because of the EU’s Anti-Tax Avoidance Directive, which means that tax will have to be paid on all income including offshore investments. This extra tax income would be paid directly to national governments under normal tax processes, and would essentially amount to the “magic money tree” which it was claimed Labour would need to fund its massive regeneration proposals.

That being the case, can’t we all agree that it’s better to stay?

There are several videos edited and produced by Liverpool University. Here's one that isn't from Liverpool University, where the same expert takes off his professional hat and just gives us his considered personal opinions. This should not cloud the issue on either side of the debate. Professionals can and do keep their personal and professional opinions apart, by disciplined thought and knowledge.

I won't post anymore of these. You've now got enough information to digest. I'll simply put up the YT source channel. There's a huge resource of information there: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwhYDFEl4zV991Ei_drGLMA/videos

Perhaps you'll subscribe so that you can regularly view the videos to keep yourself informed for perhaps a second referendum.

Chilco, the sole reason** I've popped these videos up is to give people a basis of reliable information on which to reason out why and how we've found ourselves in this political mess.

** well, perhaps there's also the element of 'told you so'. :emoticon-0126-nerd:

Thanks TS2, I'll get through those soon as I'm back from taking Mrs Jab for lunch.

I will agree we need a good agreement.......nothing at all wrong with staying as such......... just with a few changes. Go back to the old common market agreement. Before they made us stop trading with anyone other than Europe and making our own decisions. The employment laws can stay and the open border for that matter.........The Swiss, The Norwegians can do these things so Why cant we?

Watch the first video by Michael Dougan, which sets out the reasons why the Swiss or Norway deals aren’t as good as we have now. Essentially they have to do everything the EU tells them in terms of regulatory standards, but have ZERO influence on any of the rules the EU makes. In contrast, as one of the 3 biggest economies in the EU, the UK currently has enormous influence on all decisions made, and can stop any we violently disagree with by using our veto. Once we leave the EU, under any deal or absence of one, that influence becomes zero.

Your other point, that the EU stops us trading with anyone else, is simply, laughably, complete nonsense. What happens in reality is that we use our membership of the Single Market as part of a bargaining strategy, so that a trade deal with, say, India, also gives them access to the markets in the other 27 EU states. That gives us much more favourable terms on any trade deal than we could ever get once we are outside the EU.
