Of course I could see this happening! We’re a fully integrated member of the EU, and have been for over 40 years! Before I retired from the NHS part of my job was training nurses from Spain and Portugal, with the help of an interpreter, how to use the various computer systems in the hospital. That kind of thing has been happening everywhere, in every skilled job, in every profession, because people love to travel and live and work in different countries, it’s part of being a human being. As I have said before, one of my stepdaughters went to live in Spain, just because she could! But because 17.4 million people believed the fantasy that it was better for us to revert to our old, insular, foreigner-hating past, that has all been put at risk.

And it’s a bit rich, quite frankly, for someone who voted Leave to claim they didn’t actually think they would win!

Go back and look at all the polls and discussions at the time......All the main parties telling us to vote to stay...UkIP and a few others telling us different....not that I would ever have considered them. Easy for you to say now you expected this as a stayer.
Don't get me wrong whoever won was going to get stick.....that I agree with. But to say this was going to happen the way it has, quite frankly is unbelievable. Still each to their own I suppose. We will just have to agree to disagree. Sorry to say we do not have the means at the moment it seems to put a stop to this either way.

Of course one could see this happening. And one doesn't even have to work in the NHS to see that immigration and the free movement of peoples is beneficial to any country. Anyone with any dim observation skills of demographics, over and above any built-in prejudices, can see that. And you don't have to go on surmise or folklore. Proper verifiable data is right under your fingertips.

I think most remainers thought that what leavers were promising was undeliverable so the government not being able to deliver it and getting into a mess is in no way surprising to us.

Leavers will continue to believe it's the governement's fault rather than consider its them being wrong until then end I expect though.

Actually, yeah, I did. Because I take things like voting for constitutional change seriously. I made sure that the Remainers were telling the truth just as much as the Leavers. And the only way to verify that was to inspect the data. It was all easily available. Still is. Of economic experts who had been advisers to governments of all sides, they said Remain, and spelled out the implications on both sides. So it was pretty much crystal clear to me. It required the minimum of effort to find this stuff out too. Wasn't major constitutional change worth 10 minutes of anyone's time in research?

Do you really think I didn't consider all sides? Do you really think I wouldn't way things up? I just see things in a different way......I understand we Brexiteers are taking a hiding on here and no matter what we say you will have a different view. I expected us to be out by now.......as we should have been according to the referendum. No matter how much you retainers squeak about it there is no denying the result. The fact the government cant agree on a leave package is down to them not us!! I would prefer a leave package.......but we shouldn't have been in the **** we are in and no matter how you remainers feel you cant alter the result!! I do have sympathy for how you feel. I would probably feel the same way had you won the vote. As I say I am and always have been willing to accept negotiation on the matter.

No. Actually I don't think you did. I think you sleepwalked into the referendum vote, not realising the implications.

There was no talking to that idiot. He's almost as reprehensible as the buffoon Johnson. Unfortunately, we had him foisted upon us

Leavers are now saying we should be out by now and the govt have screwed up. Leavers are also saying that the govt were unprepared for a leave vote. Leavers are also saying that we voted out so we have to leave.

Maybe the whole thing is actually a really, really **** idea that won't ever really work and that is why the govt screwed up and were unprepared.

Only a second referendum with facts not fiction will actually decide. IMO.
