Why on earth do politicians guess or not wait for evidence?

I dont think the effect of using gas us minimal but i do agree.
However it does make sense if you think that Russia are the aggressors trying to provoke the west as Putin would have given Assad assurances he would come to his aid against western aggression. It would then appear to Russians that they are in the right (and apparently to many of us)
I'm basically just saying this can't be used as evidence either way as it makes sense in whichever case.
There's certainly lots of intrigue going on here.
Hang on, this is twice in a week I've agreed with you!why would Assad do something as stupid as this gas attack(i know his past record) but that was when he was in danger of losing, now he is on the verge of winning. the only country that would benefit from Syria getting its arse kicked by the west is Israel. The gas attack has not been confirmed by any independent agency, I hope the west will chill until they know the facts, and even then I hope the west does not get involved in something they can not win.
Exactly, this situation is pretty much lose - lose for the west.for all of their sabre rattling, Russia are a very poor second to the USA when it comes to an air war which Syria would be, in recent play wars, the F22 and F35 when used correctly for the first time scored at a ratio of 22/1 against F15,F16 and euro fighters. I hope that sense will prevail, maybe smoke a few spliffs, chill the $%^& out and realise assad is not worth plunging the area into war
My understanding is an independent analyst has gone in and confirmed the use of Chemicals. You might indeed ask a lot of questions over Assad. Another question I would be asking is where these chemical weapons were made. You indeed may not like the use of chemicals but it has been proved they used Chemicals in the past. The Ruskies do not condemn the use in any of their statements I have seen.............Nor would they I guess as Assad is their puppet...........
i was under the impression the rebels had nowhere near the infrastructure to produce it unless then captured some which you would think they would make a big deal of finding.I think Assad’s opposition has also been known to use chemical weapons as well.
Could be Assad. Could be the opposition sacrificing a few, to get the reaction that we have seen being played out in the media.
This needs cool heads and patience, rather than governments finger pointing without proof.

That’s the trouble .......they do have proof. The problem is that the independent group that went in to check does not include any Russians. Even then if they did the Ruskies would say that the people or persons were influenced by the West. No matter how you look at it the Ruskies would deny any use of chemicals. Sorry they have more lying politicians than we do........
Proof that it was Assad that used it? Or proof that it was a chemical weapon?
When I moved to Serbia in 2003 (4 years after NATO bombed the **** out of my now home town) my dear friends gave me about 6 months before I was shot. I'm still here!!! and it feels very safe being a long way away from all this ridiculous Syria posturing!
I think the problem of proof is that if chlorine gas is used it evaporates away and leaves no trace?
Proof that a chemical weapon was used by the Syrians.
Even the history of attacks can be questioned. As I understand it none of the independent investigators of the attack last year actually visited the location where the attack took place. I think all the evidence was provided to them by the rebels and many of the rebel groups in Syria have or had links to ISIS or al Qaeda so I’d be very reluctant to trust them completely.
Not quite so; the evidence was provided by the first responders. There was Russian-backed social media campaign to paint them as biased.
I'm terribly disappointed that the constant efforts of our non-democratic friends around the world have moved people from scepticism about claims (about pretty much anything) all the way over into deep cynicism and a feeling that *no-one* can be trusted. Looks like their tactics are working.
