Politics in 2016 and 2017 have been crazy enough that Sinn Fein deciding to actually seat MPs and thus hold the balance of power in Parliament feels about right.

That would require those Sinn Fein MPs to take an oath of allegiance to the Queen. Which seems unlikely even in the crazy world of 2016/17 politics.

Now this amazes me, I have relatives in Exeter and Plymouth. Exeter is far more affluent yet is a fairly strong labour area, Plymouth far less so, but Tory. For Plymouth to go to labour is stunning imho.
So your good mood might return. :)

Seriously, it looks like whoever forms the government, they'll be doing it with little or no overall majority. And that might screw Brexit, thank goodness.
