This from the ABC article I linked to. Trump isn't being allowed to ride roughshod over all of the constitution and judiciary. "With Trump signing more than 75 executive orders since taking office, the unprecedented flood of litigation has yielded mixed results in blocking the president's unilateral efforts to reshape the federal government. His attempts to freeze funding or rewrite longstanding laws have generally been blocked, but some federal judges have implicitly given him the green light to carry out part of his plan to reshape the federal workforce. U.S. District Judge John Coughenour -- who was nominated to the bench by Ronald Reagan -- handed the Trump administration one of its first legal defeats by blocking Trump's executive order on birthright citizenship and offered one of the fiercest criticisms of his presidency's early actions. "It has become ever more apparent that to our president, the rule of law is but an impediment to his policy goals," Judge Coughenour said. "There are moments in the world's history when people look back and ask, 'Where were the lawyers, where were the judges? In these moments, the rule of law becomes especially vulnerable. I refuse to let that beacon go dark today."
The videos of the Vance incident clearly show his version of events is a total fabrication. At what point will Maga supporters admit that their party is the party of lies and disinformation?
Led by the proven liar in chief, misogynistic, pussy grabbing, serial adulterer, convicted felon and fraudster, erstwhile close friend of Jeffery Epstein sharing a liking for young girls also a close Putin ally, that was elected as President. What a **** up.
Historic Photographs On August 23, 1989, about 2 million people from Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania formed a human chain that united all 3 countries to show the world their desire to escape the Soviet Union and the communism that brought only suffering and poverty. This power stretched 600 km. Last days of USSR through photos: https://wp.me/p49trd-1h3 please log in to view this image
Wrong as usual. The American economy is already a dumpster fire. Trump and musk are doing essentially all they can to push towards a healthy spending level but tbh it’s already too far gone. All they can do is put a plaster on a gaping wound at this point. Their management of the economy is already 100x better than the previous administration as they are facing the reality of the situation instead of printing money and praying
So Trump wants Russia to be given land, to offer no security guarantees, to force Zelensky to give up his position… and Russia to… do nothing.
Imagine thinking that journalists, economists, doctors etc have been spending their whole lives, training and careers trying to deceive you, whilst believing virtually ever word that comes out of this idiotic man-child, along with his boss whose lying and deceit are proven and constant.
please log in to view this image Donald Trump was visiting a primary school in Orlando and visited a 4th grade class. They were in the middle of a discussion related to words and their meanings. The teacher asked Mr. Trump if he would like to lead the discussion on the word 'tragedy.' So our illustrious POTUS asked the class for an example of a 'tragedy'. One little boy stood up and offered: "If my best friend, who lives on a farm, is playing in the field and a tractor runs him over and kills him, that would be a tragedy." "No," said Trump, "that would be an accident." A little girl raised her hand: "If a school bus carrying 50 children drove off a cliff, killing everyone, that would be a tragedy." "I'm afraid not," explained Trump. "That's what we would call great loss." The room went silent. No other child volunteered. Trump searched the room. "Isn't there someone here who can give me an example of a tragedy?" Finally at the back of the room, Little Johnny raised his hand. The teacher held her breath. In a quiet voice he said: "If the plane carrying you was struck by a 'friendly fire' missile and blown to smithereens that would be a tragedy." "Fantastic!" exclaimed Trump, "That's right. And can you tell me why that would be a tragedy?" "Well," says Johnny, "It has to be a tragedy, because it sure as hell wouldn't be a great loss... and you can bet your sweet ass it wouldn't be an accident either!" The teacher left the room..
Listening to Ian Hislop and Andrew Marr summing on their perception of Elon Musk makes interesting reading even though the interview has been overtaken by events. I can understand Musk protecting his own commercial interests yet think he has no moral compass. What I do think is interesting is that the fact that Poland has probably been the most belligerent opponent of Russia and supporter to Ukraine. I do wonder what the future holds for Piland under Tusk. I think Russia reclaiming the Baltic states is a foregone conclusion but have a nasty suspicion that Trump and Musk will not support him either. I have to say that I think Poland has antagonised Russia . I am not confident that Trump will treat Poland any better than Ukraine. I can see Poland as being seen as expendable by Trump.
I can’t help but see the rise of Putin and the fall of Western Democracy as a cataclysmic failure of the press. I think Rupert Murdoch has done so much damage to journalistic integrity and nobody has done enough to hold social media to account for hate speech and lies. Putin’s primary method of attack has been the weakness of freedom of speech- that he does not afford his own people. By sowing divisions between us the west is genuinely at a breaking point, where the media illiterate say things like “you can’t go for a walk in Germany without getting run over”. Most of us here are old enough to know better, but the appeal of the narrative of the oppressed white works well in a society where most of us feel poorer than we did 10 years ago -and pits poor against poor, leaving the rich laughing at us.
