JD Vance: "Hey, Europe, fascism is great. You should totally try it out!"

(For those hard of nuance, this is satire.)

Has Os commented on Trump’s utter betrayal of Ukraine and Europe yet?

Trump wants the popularity at home he receives from removing/reducing US troops from active combat.
Forcing Europe to increase their defense spending, whilst presenting them with a price list from American arms manufacturers.

Making the US like these characters from your fav gangster shows

    Ruben Miller in Top Boy
    Patrick Ward in Love/Hate

But should Israel be allowed to exist, after all what is now Israel was Transjordan or Palestine for centuries? Is Israel a modern day equivalent to the Crusader Kingdoms that existed back in the Middle Ages? Did those kingdoms have a right to exist?

Israel was a mistake in hindsight, but it does exist and has a right to exist also.

Putting a race of people so utterly damaged by the holocaust in a part of the world where they would face constant hardship was not a good move.

What a complicated mess- and human beings are the ones suffering because of it.

That line I have boldened could be key to the future, and force Trump into being more supportive of NATO.
The weapons industry thrives not just on sales to foreign nations but on sales to the USA forces, so if the US reduces its own footprint in volatile regions the weapon manufacturers could take a big hit. Especially if the rest of the world stops buying from them and the EU, for example, just buys from their own countries.
As I remember, back in the JFK days, Kennedy was unpopular with the weapons industry because he was refusing to put troops into Vietnam. I’m quite sure that at least one of the assassination conspiracies includes the arms industry as being behind the shooting, in partnership with the CIA. Also worth remembering that one of Johnson’s first acts was to send troops in.
The weapons industry boomed and LBJ’s wife made an absolute fortune in “rebuilding” much of Vietnam’s infrastructure when fighting eventually ceased.

"President Donald Trump claimed in part two of a televised interview that the nearly three-year-old war between Russia and Ukraine that started when Moscow’s forces kicked off an invasion in 2022 was the fault of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s failure to pre-emptively capitulate before Russian troops began their attack." Trump saying "Ukraine shouldn't have stared this war". Russia in from the cold.

Listening to the blond Trumpet on Newsnight claiming the UK has more political prisoners and suppression than Russia is like reading one of Os's posts claiming the Oranje man is sensible.

Trump is proving far worse than anything I feared. He has given Putin everything he wanted, he has contacted Romania to ask them to release Tate, he has openly stated that he can and will break the law to achieve his ends, and he has appointed a group of drug addicted, sex offending simpletons to office. Anyone who supports him might as well put on the hakenkreuz and march down the high street.

It's horrible, can but hope that Trump and his sycophantic minions will cave in under concerted resistance to his bulling coercion. That press spokesperson whatever she is was reading from the pages of Signal.

The Baltic states will go next. American troops being withdrawn. I get the point about the provision of American military equipment but wondered if Trump would sell it to Russia in the proviso that America took Ukraine's mineral wealth. I just feel that Trump is not too fussed with Europe and an emboldened Russia woukd diminish the EU.

It does make you wonder how far Trump will go. Nothing seems too improbable but I think we will endeavour to prosecute some Democrats for treason. I am convinced he will pursue Hilary Clinton.

it was literally an anti-fascist, anti-authoritarian speech and he is a fantastic politician. I wish we had leaders with half as much competence as him

    Don't panic foam or froth.
"The National Institute of Economic and Social Research predicted that January’s leap in inflation was likely to be short-lived. “While today’s ONS data shows annual CPI inflation rising to 3.0% in January 2025, its highest level in 10 months, this elevated figure is only transitory – due to base effects – and is expected to fall again in the coming months.”

You can make an argument against why any current nation on the modern map should exist.

The chap who was attacked for burning the Quaran outside the Turkish embassy was a Kurd. An ethnicity without a majority in any nation state and who believe are treated as second class citizens by the Turkish government.
