Can you tell me how USAID supports Reuters? I'd be interested to know. Hadn't realised they receive anything from USAID. Just for context too - While the United States gives more official government aid than any other country, its contribution as a percentage of national income is at the bottom of the list for wealthy countries in 2020, according to figures from the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, opens new tab. In 2023, Norway topped the list at 1.09 percent of gross national income, while the United States lagged at 0.24 percent, along with Slovenia, the Czech Republic and Spain.
Just another point on USAID. One of the NGOs they support is run by my brother-in-law, and is involved in supporting a prison camp in Syria holding a number of IS/ISIS prisoners. Since the funding has been withdrawn, the guards at the camp aren't getting paid, so have stopped working. Understandably. So there's basically a bunch of radicalised, IS members now walking free and making their way across the border into Iraq. Great move, Donald and Elon. That'll work out REALLY well. Now because I'm an adult, I can also see that USAID has supported some pretty spurious things too, and those should be stopped. No doubt. I wouldn't count BBC Action in those, by the way (which has nothing to do with BBC News. It's a completely separate entity, but Musk has lied about that, so the hard of thinking sheep along believing that to be true). But a blanket freeze on all funding is idiotic, and will create huge issues, such as the one above.
Okay, I just checked. Reuters doesn't receive anything from USAID. And the BBC only receive money for BBC Action which is their charity, and as I stated has nothing at all to do with BBC News (completely separate). So when you say "BBC, Reuters etc. all guzzling at the trough. I remember being ridiculed for the idea that legacy media was being controlled / censored. Hard to deny it now." It's really not. It's really easy to deny because everything in that sentence is factually incorrect. I presume as an adult you'll admit that you were wrong and apologise, seeing as you expect other people to do that, even when they're not wrong.
It’s time for America to spend money on Americans. Just like it’s time for the UK to spend money on the UK. Without stopping the funding, there is simply no way to hold any of these things to account. The outcome is staggering so far. Hundreds of millions wasted on vanity projects and money laundering projects. It’s sad that the few good projects have to be harmed, but the taxpayers are FINALLY getting some accountability. This is a great thing
I don't entirely disagree, as I've stated. But it's not "sad that the few good projects have to be harmed" - it's downright dangerous.
Now the FBI and CIA are no longer weaponised against the American people, they should have more resources to focus on actual national security
In fairness, the truth is still being uncovered I get the feeling you ain’t seen nothin yet. The DOGE job was given to the most efficient and effective operator in the history of American business and he was given Carte Blanche on methods. The team was kept small and surgical because they’re all getting immediate pardons on the back end to insulate them from blowback. Vivek leaving gives him plausible deniability for a future presidential run. The meme-name was to put them at ease. The drama is to draw the dems all out in protest so that when the full magnitude of what is uncovered is made public, he’ll be able to smear them all with it - imply they all knew what was there and tried to obstruct the team from finding it. There is something far worse at the center of all this. Worse than anything we’ve seen so far. It’s building to a crescendo. Trump knows exactly what DOGE is going to find. Or at least has a very good idea how deep the rabbit hole goes. And he’s drawing the mostly oblivious stupid dems right into the most epic, carefully laid political trap of all time. The greatest show on earth is only in its First Act
So you'll admit you were lying or at best misinformed and speculating about the post regarding Reuters, BBC, legacy media?
Os is a free speech absolutist, he wouldn’t dob me in I’ll shut up now though, don’t want to give the mods any agg
