He was pardoned by Donald Trump yesterday, and wrote the following on X when he got the news:"

Raccoon on meth
I went shopping the other day, and when I reached for the cat food on the top aisle, I got surrounded by a group of weird blokes, and they wanted me to go with them to invade Poland. This nazi thing is getting out of control.

If you actually watch the video, none of those are anything like what Musk did, but whatever makes you happy. As you'll no doubt not have bothered noticing, I did say I didn't think it was done purposefully, but it's not a great look.

I did read what you said in the post I quoted and I've already seen the video clip. It wasn't a direct response to you personally but because you brought the subject up, it seemed like the best place to put a reply.
But I don't know why you think I may be disingenuous, I genuinely thought that Alan Shearer and the Dalai Lama were Nazis. You're right, that may say something about me but I've never forgiven him for ****ing off to Blackburn. Shearer that is, as we all know the Dalai went to Liverpool.

The post was to ridicule the almost hysterical comments from people who thought Musk had (deliberately or accidentally) shown his fascist beliefs to the world. Whether they actually believe that or not is irrelevant, if Musk could be further discredited it would be well worth it. You know how it works and you should also be able to see that by including the Dalai Lama that it was mocking them.
Shearer though I'm not so sure about. It's a well known fact that Howaythelads is geordie for sieg heil.

Fair enough mate - sorry if being slightly oversensitive. Yes, there's hysterical reaction to it (which I don't agree with, as stated) and there's also been equally daft support/mental gymnastics excusing it. It was an absolutely idiotic thing to do, aspergers/autism or not.

As I've said, he's one of many clever-stupid people around, and that misstep (which is what I think it is - but it's a massive misstep, which even the most basic of brains would understand) flies a bit in the face of 'common sense government' on day 1.

It’s easy to do tho. I was working in Germany 25 years ago & arrived on site one morning after being there for a week or so. The German department boss was at the other end of a 30m conveyorised line; I saw him & said “hi” with a straight arm. Didn’t think anything of it. Dr Stephan slowly wandered up, a really large, imposing guy & said, “Gary, in Germany we don’t do that”. I was mortified.

It would be somewhat ironic if his hotels and resorts were found to be staffed with a number of undocumented immigrants.

I remember reading about that in the Guardian under the headline "ENGLISH, FAR RIGHT WING, FOOTBALL FAN, EXTREMEIST, GIVES NAZI SALUTE TO GERMAN DOCTOR".
Then it went on to say how the man, Gary Hitler, a shaven headed multi tattooed conveyor line worker from Southampton, tried to excuse this obviously subliminal fascist gesture as a "good morning" greeting and uses it all the time when back in the UK. He insisted that he accompanied the salute with the word Hi and not Heil as suggested by witnesses. He was reported to be mortified that they heard him.

The BBC, desperate to confirm that Mr Hitler was indeed a fascist searched around until they finally found someone in New York to back them up.
Ruth Ben-Ghiat, a history professor at New York University, said: "Historian of fascism here. It was a Nazi salute and a very belligerent one too."
