HIGNFY Kamala Harris tells supporters "do not despair", reassuring them 'I’ll be fine, I’m very rich' please log in to view this image
In fairness, that's also a bit of a weird flex - he's not even in office yet, and shares going up isn't a bad thing. That's a bit of a cheap shot. I'm sure there'll be plenty of things that will horrify us far more, but there's nothing anyone can really do but wait and see. And hope. The man is an odious human being, but the dems were pretty pathetic in running with Kamala, and leaving Biden in post far too long (stopping them from running a proper selection - Gretchen Whitmer would have been a million times better). They've somewhat brought this on themselves (although there's a case to be made that Trump picked up a buoyant economy from Obama, it went south with Covid, leaving Biden to pick up a tricky ball on that. Unfortunately that's been used in the old "you were better off under Trump" tactic, which people have gone for, and it's likely as a result he would win against whoever they put up. I hope next time around they go with Whitmer).
I agree LTL . Also , though Musk seems to me a bit of an odd Ball , I just think of some things he has done . Tesla ( Yes I know he didn’t create it ) . He took Tesla to where they are now . Yes sales are falling but that’s an EV wide situation and the infrastructure. Then there’s his space stuff . Quite a few Billionaires pump massive amounts back in , but news of that doesn’t interest the press . There are also several that don’t put back I would imagine .
Trump genuinely has an amazing team behind him this time. It is actually better that he was in the wilderness for 4 years. - Elon Musk - Vivek - JD Vance - RFK jr - Tulsi Gabbard and a few more. Genuinely good politicians and sensible people. The sort of people that the West need in leadership roles. Very hard to argue against these guys being beneficial for businesses globally. His previous loss was a blessing in disguise in many ways.
Look, much like last time, by hook or by crook (and those words have never resonated so much), he’ll do some good things, one hopes. I think he will. I don’t mind either that the guy shakes things up a bit too. That’s needed. As I say, he’s a hideous man, and I can’t stand him as a person, but it’s what we have, so all the petty sniping isn’t terribly helpful. Judge him by what he does (not by what the guy says), and let’s see where we end up.
I’d suggest “amazing” is doing a lot of heavy lifting there, Os (particularly in the case of RFK jnr) - the more significant players will be people like Susie Wiles (who will be a good appointment, and hopefully a steadying hand guiding his more…temperamental edges).
We will see. I think they are all exceptional people. All of them are business owners themselves who have come into politics to make a difference. Are few are even former dems, so there is a unity aspect too. There is a chance to build a real strong economy and future under these guys. To have Musk involved with the government could genuinely change the world. Guy is an insane genius at building functioning businesses
I think it might improve US business prospects, but the isolationist stance might not be beneficial globally. We’ll see. It will be interesting to see if Musk genuinely takes an involved role, or is just a fancy figurehead/mouthpiece.
I believe he is pissed off enough at the government overreach, censorship and general malaise of the West that this is real now. A guy doesn’t spend 44bn dollars and then quit. He’s even more relentless than Trump. If anyone can usher in a golden age to American business, it’s Elon musk. I don’t care what people on here and lefties say, he is one of the most inspirational people in the world. He has a ridiculous track record of going “all in” and winning.
Yeah, it’s going to be interesting, for sure. Let’s have the “lefty/righty” rhetoric gone now though. Genuinely. People shouldn’t just identify as a binary political choice. Opinions should vary depending on the subject, not depending on the ‘tribe’. It’s people having differing opinions. It’s people being sensible, or not being sensible at worst.
