Watching my second team (the utterly **** Donny Rovers) beating Everton.

Everton are every bit as bad as we were last year on current viewing.

Edit: Well this wasn’t the right thread….

Let's go through some of this, shall we:

I began my investigation in one of the country’s most liberal cities, Vancouver. Possession of up to 2.5 grams of hard drugs, including heroin, cocaine and fentanyl, has been legalised in the city as part of a three year experiment which began in January of this year. If the aim was to combat the opioid crisis that already beset the city then it appears there is still much to be done as vast tent sites line the streets, patrolled by roaming zombie-like drug addicts.

Not legalized, decriminalized. There is a difference. The purpose is to provide support rather than arrest people who are addicted to drugs (and provide safe access to substances that aren't tainted with fentanyl/carfentanyl), based on a similar program in Portugal where doing the same vastly reduced drug deaths and disease transmission among addicts:

In Toronto, I caught up with a family originally from India to discuss their experiences of modern Canada. Neerunjun, a social worker fired by his company for refusing to take the Covid vaccine, discussed how his eight-year-old son was asked to wear the opposite sex’s clothes for a school day promoting cross-dressing. He let his child have a day off instead of submitting to such woke indulgence.

This isn't a thing. Beyond the fact that this isn't a thing, education is administered at the provincial level...the federal government has no say in such matters (there's currently a massive knock-down fight in New Brunswick over it, with a very conservative government that is tearing itself to shreds over the issue). The provincial government of Ontario, where Toronto is located, has been Conservative for the past five years.

Part of Canada’s social revolution can also be witnessed in its extreme new euthanasia laws. In 2016, the ruling Liberal Party passed legislation enabling assisted suicide for terminally ill Canadians. Next year the legislation will be expanded to include those with mental health problems. As Christianity declines across Canada, and the liberal obsession with “bodily autonomy” and “personal freedom” reaches its logical conclusion, a new dystopia is forming. As Dr Konia Trouton, a euthanasia advocate, told me, “we are an organised society but within that organisation we have to allow some freedoms and opportunities, this is not a communist system where we can try and reign that in”. The campaign group Euthanasia Prevention Coalition estimates that 13,500 people chose state-assisted suicide last year.

You have to jump through an incredible number of hoops to pursue assisted suicide...I know, because I know someone who chose it owing to their end-stage cancer. Our regime is miles more restrictive than those of many European countries (requires that you be terminally ill; many in Europe don't).

For a nation to be truly woke, it must have its own narrative of oppression. In America, activists focus on the country’s history of slavery and racist laws. In Britain, they focus on the Empire. In Canada, where historically there were very few black people, the nation’s story of guilt centres on a so-called genocide against its indigenous population. Supporters of this narrative point to the discovery of hundreds of disturbances in the earth around an Indian residential school in Kamloops, which is supposedly evidence of a mass grave site.

However, no bodies have ever been found and many question the idea of a genocide as being at best an exaggeration and at worst a total fabrication. We interviewed a man who questioned the genocide story, and was fired from his job as a teacher as a result. Canada’s Justice Minister David Lametti has said he is open to punishing those who deny the indigenous genocide narrative, similar to bans on Holocaust denialism.

What in the absolute **** is this bullshit? The Truth and Reconciliation Commission found that over 4,000 identified children died in residential schools. They have since found unmarked mass graves containing the bodies of up to 2,000 more kids. The TRC that was set up in 2008, by the Conservative government. Here is the apology given by the Conservative Prime Minister at the time:

You're all falling for it.

He wrote nine words. Nine. And in response, you've written hundreds of words of reasoned argument about why it's not Khan's issue and the details of why that's true. This is what trolls do and you're falling into the trap. Nine words of nonsense and a page of anger as response. He's beyond listening to reason and you have to wake up to that. You're just being trolled.

Sounds familiar?

I mean, it's not like settlers in America slaughtered the indigenous population too...but I suppose in this strange person's mind that was a "so-called" thing as well? What a bizarre statement. One rather doubts the indigenous population of Canada are *checks notes*...French and British...

Having read the article your dismantling of it point by point is no more than I expected having seen Edgington's publishings utter tosh all. How anyone can put that forward as legitimate comment is beyond me.

It's almost as if an accurate accounting of history in almost every country will involve some really dark deeds. If it doesn't, you aren't dealing with history, you're dealing with mythology. And building a nation around a bunch of grandiose myths is...generally not ideal. Always ends badly for Poland.

Ben Wallace is the only cabinet minister in the whole Boris-Liz-Rishi era who left his post with a better reputation than he had at outset, so it's smart to really reset expectations with someone like Shapps.

People also ask;

What is drag in cricket?
"Drag is a term used in cricket that describes the motion displayed when a bowler manages to move his rear foot forward before releasing the ball."

The above is quite true but the Canadian cricket team have found another meaning.

Twitter is now allowing advertising consisting of the Fourteen Words, an explicitly white supremacist slogan, with the ad removing all doubt by (correctly) ascribing the quote to David Lane, the author...and a neo-Nazi who died in prison while serving a life sentence for his part in multiple murders.

You must log in or register to see images

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Lane_(white_supremacist)

The ad is still up, and the author (above) is gleefully retweeting all of those upset that they're getting explicitly Nazi ads. This came on the same day that Elon bandwagoned a movement started by unapologetic Hitler stan Nick Fuentes to deplatform the Anti-Defamation League. For those who haven't closed out their Twitter accounts, just something to think about.
