Ah but one of the photographers being paid for by the taxpayers, to record images of cabinet ministers going about their business, has taken some lovely pictures of his dog playing in the snow.
Apparently No10 didn’t respond to a question asking what role Dilyn played in the daily business of running the country.
I'm not sure so many people think he is doing a great job, maybe people are starting to give less of a ****, and just want an end to lockdown, and homeschooling, etc.
I sometimes find it seems easier to moan about stuff when it fits an agenda, such as a political one, and although hyperthetic, would some make the same noise and vitriol if Labour were in and the same approach was taken on Covid.
I dont think managing Brexit and Covid at the same time is an easy thing to do, regardless if the former was the right thing to start with.

No thanks to the magic wand, but if we could have a dispassionate look back over the handling of this **** storm it would be good.
I have no doubt this job was on the difficult to bleeding impossible scale. However, having a clown in number 10 who cannot resist making false claims and promises hasn't helped. I actually feel sorry for Hancock. Before all this kicked off I just thought of him as another worthless suit-full of bugger all. He stumbled at the outset, and he still drops bollocks, but I do think he's got the bigger picture. Johnson is still squealing like a stuck pig at PMQs. He's learned nothing.

Not disagreeing with a lot of this, and relating to the death rate, I think we absolutely should hold an inquest. I believe Boris could have done some things differently, such as shutting boarders, but that decisions (rightly or wrongly) were also made in balance to other factors.
Im not sure he has been deliberately negligent or how negligence can be proven with so many other mitigating factors around brexit, economy, mental health, access to other vital healthcare services etc., so others calling him out for manslaughter are just plain ridiculous imo. Im not sure anyone should be held to account as such, as this is such a collective, emotive and subjective issue around Covid, the lockdowns, out response, factors in dying etc.
I also think we need to understand all possible causes of our high death rate. Is it that other countries dont record as much, with the same metrics, have they lied, have we, has the factors such as being a very old population with one of the highest obesity rates been a bigger issue?
I think the main issue is that Boris just isn't up to the job and needs to be led, rather than lead. On his own he is out of his depth.

There are many failings with the Johnson, but oñe of the biggest has to be a complete lack of visión. He came to Office with oñe mantra which got his party a massive majority, but what else was he offering apart from mere platitudes. In this respect, he had something in common with Cameron and Blair himself, although the Blair Government did implement a raft of social reforms such as increasing maternity leave, improving opportunites for ladies to pursue a career, expanding higher educación, which in theory is good. But, Johnson on the other hand, nada!
Yep, what you just said! I think neither party would have done well, but hindsight is such a valuable to hammer to hit someone/thing over the head with.
I think partly the bit that really pinches my tits, are the number of people that I know who have retired, that are far too judgemental, and think this is all so easy, and let's just lockdown, and **** everything else. To me, it is a really 'entitled' attitude, and not realistic. I get they are the most risk, but most of them still go to daily outings to garden centres and supermarkets - i mean wtf!
It just really isnt that straightforward, there are literally so many other things to consider.
The uncomfortable truth, and as someone already mentioned in this thread, there is a notion of acceptable death rate and I think the UK government behind the scenes (in the Treasury and back benches especially) have been pushing that.

It is however fair to say that Boris Johnson's style of communicating, the higher death rate compared to other countries, the evidence of cronyism and profiteering from the situation all lead to a very bad taste in the mouth. There should be an inquest - but recent inquests don't seem to make much of a difference.

Well, for the Tories getting re-elected was obviously the number 1 priority, so job done.
Going forward, I fully expect them to say how Boris and the Tories have lead us safely out of brexit and Covid, or they will say he has taken us so far and we need a new direction after the successes of covid management and breaxit, or they will force a leadership challenge saying arent we great, we know he isnt up for the job, and this is Mr/Mrs X to lead us forward.

A very old population? Maybe in certain parts of the country like Fareham, Christchurch and a plethora of places along the Sussex coast. Thank God for inmigración from all over the world, otherwise more places in the UK would be as depressing as Bexhill and Folkestone.

I think your last sentence is also part of the problem - people keep trying to get others to change their views, but what you have written above, in that context is likely to drive a wedge even deeper. I gave up trying to get peopel to change their views through words. I guess actions are more compelling, for me anyway!
Interesting, Billy. I’m retired but have hardly been out of the house except for a walk around the neighbourhood and to the shops to buy milk, etc.
I don’t see myself as “entitled” at all - in fact I am royally pissed off at being told it was my generation who voted for Brexit and for whom lockdown is “no hardship” - it’s ****ing tough being here all day, every day, alone and not being able to see my family and friends. My neighbourhood is mainly retired people and none of them go out daily. From what I’m seeing, it’s my generation who ARE sticking to lockdown and the younger generation who are flouting the rules because they’re “bored”, etc.
I’m not pointing fingers or trying to generalise, but I’d be happier if frontline workers, everyone in education, etc for immunised before me so the world could at least start to get back to some semblance of normality.
Not as old as Spain's, Italy's or Germany's. Spain has oñe of the lowest birth rates in the world. Thankfully, it now has a rising level of inward migración, legal and otherwise to do .the jobs from road construction to working in agriculture that native born Spanish are too old to do.
