Just been looking back at the previous 10 years Championship tables and these are the points required to stay up.

2018 / 2019 41 points would have kept you up
2017 / 2018 42
2016 / 2017 52
2015 / 2016 41
2014 / 2015 42
2013 / 2014 45
2012 / 2013 55
2011 / 2012 42
2010 / 2011 43
2009 / 2010 48

Average survival points total the past 10 seasons is 45.

We currently have 40 points so can we get 2 wins between now and the end of the season ?

46 will probably be safe
47 for sure

*I haven’t based this on any predictions or looking at others mind you

I hate being gloomy about this, but I think it’s touch and go. There are no clubs properly adrift this season which probably means the points target could be 45 or even nearing 50 this season. The team is riven with injuries, players are not coming back as soon as stated and the teams goal threat has been removed. We look a team utterly bereft of confidence and play to a system that doesn’t fit our squad particularly well. Even the ultra reliable George Long is making daft mistakes.

A spawny win on Friday, or at Preston, is needed to stop the rot.

Of the games left the only ones we might feel remotely confident about winning are the home games to Luton and Barnsley. The rest are all eminently losable unless we can find some form.

Why hasn't McCann been sacked yet? Other managers were sacked after a less crap run of form.

Work it out for yourself

Swansea H
PNE A
Barnsley H
Leeds H
Stoke A
Charlton H
Birmingham A
Mbrough H
WBA A
Bristol C A
Millwall H
Wigan A
Luton H
Cardiff A

It’s going to be tight. The fact Wigan seem to be getting some resemblance of form is a concern. We could well sleepwalk into league one.

Wigan Away looks like a 6 pointer.

Think if we get stuffed on Friday he’s gone.
Tbf this is what happens when you don’t wave to the fans.

I’d be very happy with Chris hughton as new manager.
Decent bloke.

Dream on! There's a reason GMcC was appointed.

Leeds form :-)

Sad thing is, with a near full strength squad, Bowen & Grosicki here, and a good manager, nearly all those games remaining would have been winnable (bar maybe WBA & Leeds). If we play as we have of late, we'll be lucky to stay up .... I think we will, just.

Why he signed wilks all should be right with the world for you.
What are you on about dream on. I don’t want him sacked but his position will be untenable if we get hammered at home.
The allams don’t want to go down, they will make the de idiom he isn’t going to turn it around, which many on here agree with.

There's a number on here who proclaim relegation every season (of recent seasons) and are way too emotional and irrational when it comes to surveying these matters properly, consequently, it'd be hard to take them seriously when they're being measured (if ever).

I think we'll stay up and probably will accummulate another 10-12 points plus.

Barnsley and Luton are down. Wigan could suck either Charlton or Hudds into it. Think Stoke will be safe and it'll probably be the current three.

I think we'll grind it out in truth. Every home game has the potential to yield points. I wouldn't sack McCann now - he'll do enough, then assess him by end of autumn next season (unless the ownership somehow changes prior).

I think we’ll go down if GM stays, we should beat Barnsley, Charlton & Luton, if we do get 3 wins, I think we’re safe, if we don’t, relegation is pending!
