The dam of Sum It Up is a full-sister to a Cheltenham Festival winner no less (Ninetieth Minute - '09 Coral Cup) which is quite impressive.

Sum It Up's full brother (year younger than him) actually sold for €115,000 back in '19. And Sum It Up himself made €42,000 back in 2018.

Just to update anyone who is interested. We returned from high Easter triumphant. On a day when the going was testing, the maiden was split because of the amount of entries and we felt unlucky with the draw but there you go. I haven’t seen a replay yet so these are my recollections. They raced off left handed with two circuits of the track and sum it up raced prominently in second or third for the first circuit but jumping out right, so giving away ground but kept his position and jumping soundly passing the judge for the second circuit raced up the hill. The tempo increased heading into the back going down hill and sum it up made a mistake but responded when the jockey asked some questions. From two out he rallied again to jump clear but was pursued all the way to the last uphill finishing a couple of lengths up to the plucky second. The trainer and jockey haven’t had much joy this year and hopefully this could be a turning point for us all.

well done! Is it a tight course? Just wondering why they split 14 runners into two fields?
Also see Fred Gordon won the first on s good horse and Gina managed another few wins.

They only do it in maidens for safety reasons. Sixteen or more runners they are obliged. Below that, down to the stewards discretion.

Not particularly tight but a tough uphill finish with a jump not far from the line. Fred Gordon is making a name for himself. Our horse was in a right mess when arrived from Ireland. Extremely under weight, his teeth had never been done and his feet were a mess. I was worried about the Ellis horse but happy for our jockey Charlie Marshal.
 
We had a chat with Lawny Hill after the presentation and she fancies her horses chance in the fox hunters next week.
 
Update
Snow leopard has been retired from racing unfortunately. He’s had some issues and the decision has been taken to find him something else to do. He’ll make a nice junior event or dressage horse for someone. Nice horse lovely paces, just didn’t enjoy racing.
On a positive note, Sum it up goes to Fakenham today to mix it with the big boys. He runs in the restricted race. We still don’t know much about him he doesn’t show much at home. The trainer is worried about the ground, he believes he wants it soft. It’s currently good to soft all over so we’ll see . As long as everyone come back in one piece I’ll be happy.

We have had to retire Saquon after only the one run in a bumper. It’s gut wrenching as I felt that he was going to be the best one yet. At least he will have a nice life out of racing. A fairly costly exercise when it goes this way but what else are you going to do with it huh.

Not running Sum it up yesterday although disappointing was a wise move. The winner of the other maiden we won the other week allo allo was beaten into second place by what I believe to be a very smart Dylan Thomas gelding called Oval street, who we were outbid on at the Doncaster sales last year. Our trainer was looking to dodge him and try and win an easier race back at high Easter next week.

Yes, it’s very frustrating and expensive. We felt a maiden he run in at uttoxeter which produced ten winners including a horse you probably know a bit about minella encore. I thought when he turned up for sale he was a bargain as we felt the potential just hadn’t been unlocked. Anyway after great expense and lots of tests at rossdales at Newmarket all we got back was an abnormality in his stifle. He had an injection and we thought we were back in business, but wasn’t to be.
Personally I think we been hoodwinked by the trainer who’s looking like a crook the more I hear about him, but as they say you live and learn.

He’s for sale with the view to doing some junior eventing, show jumping or dressage. We’re tempted to take him ourselves, but will see.

Let me clarify not our trainer but the well known trainer he came from. Our trainer has done some pre training for him and everything that’s come back is knackered
 
My first visit to fakenham . A tight left handed fairly flat track the facilities were good the place was spotless and easily accessible with a good all round view of the track. Oh and the Guinness is £4.40 a pint.

No Guinness in the O&T at Chepstow yesterday. Not impressed.
