Is it really that hard to understand? Robben is a winger that takes people on and plays on the wing. Podolski has been a central forward for his club Koln. Now repeat after me, one is a winger (Robben), one is a forward (Podolski). Even for Germany he is more or a less a forward, who they try and get the ball to on the left where they will find him as high up the pitch as possible. Hence, the 40 odd goals for Germany. Van Der Vaart is an all left foot attacker and so is Bale but you would never compare them.

Apart from the fact Podolski has plays on the left of midfield for Germany, and has done so for the last four years - hence - I've been comparing Podolski to Arshavin throughout this thread...

He is a wide forward for his country. As I said he plays high up the pitch and looks to score by making runs from out to in. He is not a player that takes people on.

would that not involve a system change for your team? as i dont think you play the same system that Germany employ...?

He will probably play on the left hand side of the pitch and do what Walcott tries to do. Start from the left but drift in to the middle and make runs in between the full back and centre back. But to be honest everything depends on RVP staying or leaving.

croydon your signature's take up half a page lol.

and if what you say is anything to go by wilshere then you should hope you dont get him as he could be a replacement for RVP

That's what I was thinking--that everything depends on whether van Persie stays. The jury's still out on Podolski for me. I'd be surprised if he's notably better than Sturridge, though not if he was about as good. I'd be astounded and amazed if he was better than Bale. Still, good signing, though, on balance, in any case. Every sigining has risks, he could be very good, and was bought for a reasonable price.

don't know what's going on in goonland, but whinger has come out and said they have'nt any plan's to sign Podolski

Probably does not want to anger Koln by going public with it. Its all but done according to all the reports in Germany.

As for Mertesacker, he has done well all things considering. First season in a new league and playing in a defence that kept changing every other game because of the amount of injuries at full back. Oh and any reason for the childish name calling in the end? Seemed a bit random

"Well done on signing 'the' twat"...childish namecalling?...I'm not allowed to describe a player as a twat now?...oh dear! <doh>

Btw, PM is ****...I was right, trust me, he will not speed up however many seasons he's here!, and I'm telling you Podolski is **** aswell, you heard it here 1st! You will see the odd flash, just as you did with Arshavin. He burst onto the scene with 4 stunning goals v Liverpool, then little else, on the whole a poor signing...again! :)

Let's be honest, Podolski has a better workrate than Arshavin - he'll put in the effort every game, so be more effective than Arshavin who did so every one in six/eight/twelve.
