As I said, I haven't seen enough of him to judge him, but you're probably talking him up too much already, in all honesty.
You have no idea what kind of side he'll be joining or who he'll be playing alongside, for a start.

Good points. I am maybe getting carried away. Very excited for next year though. Its as much the precedent this signing sets as much as the signing itself. I think arsene must be going for ready talent this summer to some extent.

Until this season. Done really well for Koln. He has done well to get the goals he has got for a club like that.

As a neutral, I can't say I rate him to be honest, averaging 11 league goals for Koln each year isn't really impressive for the caliber people rate him. Also Most players who come to England tend to find it difficult( especially as they start off) to have to adapt to the pace and culture over here. I think it s a bad signing.

All 3 are proven PL players and you think he's gonna come into a side outshine them and help you win the title when he's never shown any evidence in his career to doing that so far.

In other words an attacker who's all left foot, just not as good. :)

I told you all Mertesucker was **** when you signed him, but no "he's brilliant for Germany so he'll be brilliant for us"...<doh>, this logic has already failed. Well done on signing the twat anyway! :D

That's why I suggested he'd be in the Arshavin position on the left - he can chip in with goals, but his main job is to get the ball to Van Persie. Of course, there is the thought that if he wanted to get the ball to Van Persie, signing for Arsenal this summer is the worst way to do so...

<laugh> that's true, Van Persie will be about 160 miles away by then.

I cant quite figure out if this is a good signing or not!!!

He was amazing in the world cup 2006 but for me never really progressed from there. Is he not costing around 20 million euros??? that sound an awful lot to me for someone that hasnt really done that much.

Could be a great signing or another Arshavin.

That would be my guess. For all the back slapping and false triumphalism over the past couple of weeks their trophy haul is looking a little light once again.

Is it really that hard to understand? Robben is a winger that takes people on and plays on the wing. Podolski has been a central forward for his club Koln. Now repeat after me, one is a winger (Robben), one is a forward (Podolski). Even for Germany he is more or a less a forward, who they try and get the ball to on the left where they will find him as high up the pitch as possible. Hence, the 40 odd goals for Germany. Van Der Vaart is an all left foot attacker and so is Bale but you would never compare them.

As for Mertesacker, he has done well all things considering. First season in a new league and playing in a defence that kept changing every other game because of the amount of injuries at full back. Oh and any reason for the childish name calling in the end? Seemed a bit random

They are just jealous mate. Podolski will be a shrewd acquisition.

    Better than Adebayor.
