Burnsey reporting on the strikers - backed up by Phil at HDM on N'Doye.

OLM stating Macca wasn't offered a contract.

To be honest he was woeful this season. Whether he thought Dawson was brought in to replace him or was on more £££ than him or whether he just lost form he was a shadow of the player we saw the previous season. Don't see anyone in the PL bidding for him in the summer and for me he needs to knuckle down and get performing in the championship - maybe if he gets his form back other clubs will be interested.

Its always hard to know what's going on because often a player can have good intentions of staying but if another club come in with a £10,000 pay rise then most would suddenly want to go. I don't know how many players Norwich lost except for Snodgrass and I think Leroy Fer but other than that I haven't got a clue. Did they strengthen as well because they have done well to come straight back up lets hope we do the same

Norwich stuck to their guns and refused to sell players. I believe they rejected offers from 2-3 clubs for Redmond.

I'd like to see Davies prove the fans wrong about him, and show he's not like Huddlestone/Livermore. If he stayed and got his form back him and Dawson would work well together if Chester and Mcshane go, which seems likely given that shrewder Prem managers will know of Chester after the last two seasons and his Wales performances

I think Norwich going up is actually really good for us. Gives the players direct evidence of what staying together can do, and might motivate one or two who were on the fence to give it a season and see where we are in 12 months.

Also really keen for Maguire to become Starting XI for us, either in place of Macca if he leaves or as a fourth choice behind the obvious three with Davies getting sold.

Chester will also be thinking about his Wales place and Euro 16 next summer (it's looking like Wales will qualify).

Chris Coleman may well be a huge factor. If he says dropping down a division won't impact his inclusion in the squad then that's good news
    for City.

On the positive side from Harper:

"When we went down at Newcastle there was a lot of higher-profile players on big wages, who maybe had one eye on an exit strategy," Harper told the Mail.

"I've not seen that here. I'm sure there will be one or two who don't fancy the Championship. You get that in every team that goes down.

"But there's a real, hard-core of people who really want to do well for this club, regardless of what division they're in.

"They're proper professionals who give their all every time they go out there. You need that in the Championship.

"It's an excellent dressing room. There's been one or two issues that haven't helped but there's a core there that the club need to embrace. It's not easy to bounce back."

Harper looks more than capable of doing an excellent job for us next year. I hope he stays.

Possibly one of the only things Newcastle have done right in the last 10 years is how they approached the one season they spent in the Championship.

Got rid of the Fancy Danners who had no interest in playing outside the top flight.

Kept the ( British) core of the squad.

Appointed a manager from within - Houghton, although they shafted him later.

Signed a couple of cheap but effective players.

    Used the loans market well.

Launched an academy player - Andy Carroll - onto an unsuspecting world.

Forget about playing attractive football. Focused on grinding out results and picking up points.

Voilà, won the Championship at a canter.

We would do well to take note.

    Update:

Meyer, Robertson, Snodgrass, Elmo and Steve Bruce all said "we'll come back stronger!"

Chester and Dawson said they're up for the fight of getting back up.

Harper feels he could go one more season but would be happy to take a coaching role somewhere if offered.

Jelavic, N'Doye and Hernandez all want to leave.

Rosenior and McShane is out of contract and weren't offered one.

Wales have had plenty of players in the lower divisions so I wouldn't think it'd be a problem.
