Having just seen Hernandez in Prospect Centre and Grosicki in St Stephens, made me think... what do people do when they see players out and about? Are you the autograph/selfie type? Or do you leave them be? Any interesting stories of anybody meeting players in the past? A couple of teen lads saw Grosicki. They spent the next five minutes or so encouraging each other to ask him for a photo, totally embarrassed and shy.
Hernandez in Prospect Centre in mid December, or Hernandez in a nice piazza coffee shop in Pelermo or such like. No wonder he wants off to Italy!
Always thinks he looks average height on the pitch but according to wiki he's over 6 foot. Once saw England cricketers in Heathrow coming back from somewhere. I was surprised at how big some of them looked aswell.
That’s my way but without the smile. A nod & a knowing eye does the trick. If they want a selfie or autograph they’re free to ask me.
Same with Chris Evans (of BBC and TFI Friday fame). I met him for something work related and he's a giant in real life and a lot slimmer than what I thought. Proof that TV really does add the pounds!
I once shared champagne with John miles when he opened a record store a lot of years ago, does that count, he asked me if I wanted an autograph, I said no but I'll have a drink of your champagne, he handed me the tanked and I downed the lot... us of a certain age will know who John miles was...
If my memory serves me right, I remember being in Sugar Mill nightclub after the promotion play-off season (Carey Slips, WINDDDAAAAAAAAAAAS) after the open top bus celebrations. A lot of the squad were in there. Henrik Pedersen was smashed with 3 birds around him dancing, head in there shouting "OH YAAAH I AM HENRIK!". Loving life.
