With the positivity surrounding the place at the minute I wouldnt disagree, seems to be the place right now especially if the new lads can hit the ground running, I certainly wouldn't rule it out, albeit a challenge to say the least.
Ernie’s math is not up to the usual scratch… naughty man… shame on you Ernie lol. Actually scratch that, it’s my ****ing eye sight…… blind bastard
Just thought it would sound intelligent but unfortunately even that sank ( you see what I did there, rhymes with yank, I’ll get me coat )
The new positivity and 'feel good' is great, and as good as the last 3 results have been ... there needs to be some realism too. We can now say we ain't going down. But we ain't going up this year either. It would be great if we could reach the play offs (and then anything could happen), and I'd love to be proved wrong, but it's too tall an order, with around 12 clubs that we'd need to overtake, reversing a near enough 5 win 'deficit' with only 18 games to go. The welcomed additions haven't overnight transformed the squad to promotion quality - it is still miles away for example from the quality of the squad we had for our last promotion. It's now about building the platform, ahead of further strengthening in summer, ready for a serious challenge next season. For me that's sufficient of a 'dare to dream' and now a realistic hope.
We'd prob need a min of 43 points from the 60 remaining points on offer to get to the 75 mark, it's kind of achievable, but realistically it's not going to happen
I think this thread demonstrates the need to manage expectations. It's crazy to think, but not many weeks ago, many would have seen avoiding relegation as a success, yet now there will be some disappointed if we don't make the playoffs. Dare to dream, and reach for the stars, but accept that players giving their all and fans having a good day out, and feeling they got value for money is as much a success as the result.
Shows you how far we've come in a couple of weeks and the positivity surrounding the club. Tbh it would be a minor miracle for us to get to the play offs, but at least fans are thinking of such instead of it being all doom.and gloom. The power of a positive owner.
As much as reaching the playoffs would be terrific, however unlikely,I think a more realistic target would be a top half finish. Boring….yes!.but much more achievable.
What will people be saying if we do turn out to be 7 points off 6th place this time next week? With 48 left to play for.
