Think that summarises L1; terrible mistake by woolfeden matched only by a equally poor attacking decision by the striker.
We look really in control though defensively and seem to have all the ball in this half of the first half.
Because he doesn't get stuck into the dirty work required in League One. Wants to play without being pressured on the ball, his passing isn't all that great either from what I've seen.
Now Bonne is your time, massive chance to start scoring again & win this game. Injury list worryingly growing.
Well..we’ve completely dominated that half. Lucky not to have conceded though? Jackass did well to make that shot at full pelt.
Not going well for us. On Carroll I reckon it’s two things - low morale from coming to Town to play second fiddle to Morsy and - call you what you want, ego, lack of confidence, lack of matches - but he’s just not had a run in the side to get that sharpness (and hasn’t really earned it either).
0-0 at half time then. We started pretty well, the passing and movement was good and Pompey were struggling to match us up with the shape that they began in. Morsy going off injured changed things a bit as we lost his tenacity and drive in the midfield, wish we had a better option than Carroll to replace him with as Tom just isn't robust enough to boss the middle. Portsmouth got back into the game with some decent attacks but our back line stood strong. We've had a couple of quick counter attacks that could've yielded a goal but the final pass or shot wasn't quite what was needed to finish the move off. Jackson went off injured after a lung busting run and shot on goal. I think the half time whistle came at a good moment for us as we need to get in the dressing room and make the tactical tweaks that having to make subs so early has forced on us.
He's only playing second fiddle to Morsy because he doesn't put the same levels of effort in. It's up to him to challenge Morsy for that position with his performances, which have, up until now, been rather powder puff
