I like that, don't like Doherty in general, I probably wouldn't like it in a studio, but giving it the busker feel in a video captures the mood. There is something about him that just irritates me.
I think you need to fook it up a little. maybe mash it with Tennessee Whiskey, I know I'm bat **** crazy but comes across very pedal point, but I'm probably using the wrong term for it..
Right can you lot fook offf with all this music, i got things to do. 
I didn't know that but oddly enough when I clicked play on your video it was the very first group I thought of, how odd is that lol.
Although I would have associated them with the punk era and similar punk sound, I wouldn't have put them in the same category as banshees, or maybe I unconsciously did.
One British one American so bound to be differences, Banshees were an influence as were many of the British punk acts but the Americans took it somewhere else and created a great sound imo, lots of blues influence with The Gun Club but a love of British punk driving the noise.
As much as I loved the punk era, if someone said who were your favourite it would have to be my late introduction to The Cure (early to mid 80's) and that makes no sense because they are everything I normally hate about boy groups, but the late 70's to early 80's were pretty chaotic and traumatic especially around family and that group took away that 70's noise, that often reminded me of borstal institutions and that next fight in life, seeing a light at the end of the tunnel and the start of a new chapter...still to learn even then, that life is many chapters...
