Rocket Man and Tiny Dancer are decent enough tunes for their time.
It's a poor man's copy of Space Oddity with some of the most idiotic lyrics you could imagine.

EJ's obviously nowhere near Bowie in terms of talent. Bowie manages to stand the test of time and his stuff from that era would have been brilliant had it been released at any point.
EJ however, I maintain, wasn't as bad in the context of that time as he is now.
I agree, there was some shocking rubbish around at that time ........ EJ's stuff sounds OK if you don't take it seriously.
I never took "Saturday nights alright for fighting" seriously but I loved playing it full blast. hhahaha
So he claims, in reality the lyrics are ludicrous.
I can't remember them in detail but there's not much to them.
Summat about 'I miss my wife & kids when I'm not at home' ........ hardly ground breaking sentiments are they?

Elton John would have made his profesional debut at The Bay Hotel, but the management wisely declined the honour and put on entertainment instead.
When John Lennon was asked "Is Ringo the best drummer in the world" didn't he say "Ringo isn't even the best drummer in the Beatles"?
And where's Neil Peart in that list? Surely no list of favourite drummers could be complete without him.
