The season Leicester got promoted to League One (old money) as champions with the Blunts we beat them 3-0 at BP, plus drawing at Filbert St. 0-0. Season before was the 4-1 around Easter time...They scored early if memory serves me right, then City turned it on and put in a sound performance. Shilton hated BP. He might have mentioned it in his autobiography, but don't quote me.

I think I've heard him say he hated BP on a radio interview - either talksport or 5 live

Shilts had to carry on for two reasons
He loved the game
And
He was a massive gambler

boiled my piss when Lineker piously announced how disgraceful it was the gambling in the England squad when Michael Owen was taking Rooney to the cleaners for fifty grand around 2004 time?

Guess who used to run the book for the England squad with shilton late 80’s and 90 World Cup ??

It was only 50 odd years ago CITYgirl, and I could have sworn, from memory it was Shilton, but one thing is correct, Shilton did let a shed load of goals in against City at Boothferry Park.
So was it Peter Grummit in goal for Forest that day? His name rings a bell? Whoever it was was a lucky fella.
Don't worry its an age thing as I have my moments too . Couldn't tell you who the Forest goalie was that day , but I could tell you who it wasn't . I could be wrong but seem think that one of Shiltons last Stoke appearances was at BP late summer 77 . Think it was a heated battle nil nil draw . Garth Crooks got loads of abuse and could have been sent off .

I was at the game - Friday night I think - briefly put us top, or 2nd, or some place exciting anyway. Ended up 2-0.

Remember Burridge playing against around the same time, maybe a couple of years later, for Scarboro in the Autoglass.

Must have been in his mid 40s then - had a great game.
We ended up top of what is now L1 for the night, we finished about 8th if I remember correctly.

Does Burridge still have the record for the oldest geezer to play in an English football league match?..I'm sure there might be a bloke in Japan, or somewhere, who played into his 60's....Budgie must have been 45.

That Japanese guy is still playing now and he's 58. Kazuyoshi Miura.
