In my world, any footballer from a top club would be a moron to go to City in what would obviously be for money. You can't exactly come out and say "I've always loved City. This is a dream come true". No disrespect, of course.

Not really based on history alone. It's based on prestige and global recognition. If I "were" a player, I sure as hell would not pick another club in England to ply my trade if I get the option of Man United. Bigger stage, bigger expectation, bigger reward.
Look at Depay; even though he has actually been shyte for us this season, his profile in shirt sales globally went up a notched. When he eventually come good, the recognition is bigger than at any other place.
Plus if winning trophy is all you care about, why would you leave Barca for City?

A club looking to get back into the top 4 (potentially missing out on 2 out of the last 3 years), 250k per week at a club in a bit of a ****ing mess to be honest under a manager whos recognised as a bit of a dinosaur with a **** 'philosophy' but have had a dominant period for the majority of the last 20 years.
I'd pick City. Sorry but thats the way it is these days. Suggest you all come to terms with it.

Look at it objectively.
City will win more trophies than United in the next 5 years, City will pay you more in the next 5 years, City have what most ****tards regard as the best manager in the world arriving in the summer.
Why go to United and risk competing for 5th place when you can go to City and win titles and Champions leagues?

Champions League every season? Since when did that become a guarantee? Chelsea, United, Liverpool.. Surely City would not be immune to missing out on Champions League.
And no! Short term view is to get that in top four but that is never a target at United. Target is to win the league and anything else not accepted as great.
Also, Bony, when he signed for City, I laughed then because I knew his career was going to go into the dark ally. It was a grave mistake on his part. So no! It ain't always as easy as you played it out. It can be more detrimental to their career in longer term.
Overall, Pep has not won the league yet. He has to prove himself here first. As saw with Jose, we know this league ain't German or Spanish league. It's a cold world in the EPL.
So you saw Chelsea competing for relegation six months ago? It's absurd to suggest positions are guaranteed.
I'll bet you a player who signs for City this summer will win more trophies and earn more over the next 5 years than anyone who signs for United. (Of the same squad status to warrant top wages at respective clubs)
