Wow! For once crazy Pete is 100% correct. There aren't 4 million kids living in poverty in Britain.I had a discussion on twitter with a crazy.
He spouted that 4m children live in poverty.
I pointed out that was nonsense. He objected to that.
If everybody's income increased ten times, by the definition he was using, then there would still be 4m children "living in poverty".
I suggested a better approach. That is to define a fixed set of resources, perhaps by defining a set of essentials people need to have in order to have a decent standard of living. Anyone who can’t afford that standard is considered to be in poverty, regardless of what everyone else has.
