Sunderland AFC confirms that it has parted company with Head Coach Paolo Di Canio this evening.

I thought as it is big football news in general it is worthy of it's own thread.
Have to say I'm very surprised by this move.
I do feel they have a decent backroom structure now so if RDM comes in I can see them going places.
He's a man's man and will motivate the team no problem at all.

Sunderland AFC confirms that it has parted company with head coach Paolo Di Canio this evening.
Kevin Ball will take charge of the squad ahead of Tuesday night’s Capital One Cup game against Peterborough United and an announcement will be made in due course regarding a permanent successor.
The club would like to place on record its thanks to Paolo and his staff and wishes them well for the future.

Makes me wonder even more how the fck Pardew's still in a job. Our losses to Reading, Sunderland (ironically), Liverpool and Hull have in my opinion mostly outweighed the crap results PDC got.

I tend to agree and although I think PDC deserved more time at least Short has the minerals to act when there's a problem (I'm talking more about when he sacked O'Neill than PDC).

Pards would have been the perfect answer to Sunderland's problems.

PDC's views seem radical (sorry, meant that sincerely and about his management, the pun was purely coincidental), but what I cannot fathom is that a rigorous recruitment process would have clearly shown what he was going to do. Surely as owner you'd ask what they're going to do, how they intend to set things up, etc. You can't then chicken out 12 games later. Fair play for making the move, as it does seem to be a spectacular fck up. But in comparison......NUFC 0 - 6 Liverpool?!?!? I mean, that alone is a sackable offence. You wouldn't expect Real Madrid to literally pull your insides out of your own rectum, then wee on them. But the scousers did, and the manager survived.
