Typical of the Yorkshire - 'Im only a blunt Yorkshireman but I say whats on my mind and don't care who it offends', approach. It's a fair enough attitude too, except that, in my experience, if (when in my case) you adopt the same attitude in response to this rudness they do tend to get very offended. As for this Lady, I too would stand my ground if only to anoy the fools. HOWEVER, A night out at your local is supposed to be a pleasure. When it stops being a treat, I can understand her moving elsewhere.
This is true and really happened. Had family that lived in Amble. We went to visit them the week after the skunks beat us 5-1. We were in a sports bar on a caravan site (lovely place),Newcastle were playing on Sky, they beat Arsenal 1-0 away, Carroll scored, there was about 25 Mags in the Sports bar, one particular fat **** was jumping all over and tried to high 5 me, I said "Red n White", he shouted "ARE YOU A MAKEM?", then pointed and laughed, really laughed in my face, "ahhhh 5-1 5-1!!", then turned to the rest of them expecting them to join in, a few laughed.I kept my cool. Another Newcastle fan was sat in the bar and must have known the fat **** and seemed to have the respect of the others, he chirped up (to the fat ****) " how! if Sunderland had done us 5-1, would you have had the bottle to walk into a Mackem bar and admit you supported the Toon a week later?". Fat **** "we'll,aye", Bloke "would ya ****, ****in sit down", the bloke then said to me, "hard lines mate, one of thoes games" Few pleasantries back and fourth. We left not long after. Obnoxious bellends and people that just support their teams on both sides. Like i say, that was a true story.
Like when some loud mouth gobshite shouts their piece, gets there point across then refuses to let anyone have there said because they "don't wanna talk about it anymore".
