Going to be a long night in Paris judging by the number of Irish inside Roland Garros.....

Some of the decisions have been disgraceful.

I understand that in future Olympics, the IOC will insist on automated devices/sensors (gumshields) being used to score boxing bouts.

I’m told that testing over the last couple of years has demonstrated/proven their ‘accuracy’.

Agreed. Just like in the Skateboarding earlier, I found it very odd that there were 2 Aussie judges on the panel yet no British one ! Hardly surprising then that the Aussie toddler won. She did produce the best run but still strange as surely for the final 8 contenders, all the judges should've been neutrals !

My last night in Paris....it has been truly awesome. More than I ever hoped.
We saw Volleyball China vs Slovenia. It was so exciting...and Dave the arena was full...and not of school children. 2hours of really competitive sport

Yesterday tabletennis .. four team quarterfinals. The match in front of us France vs Thailand...doubles to Thailand, 2 singles to France , 1 to Thailand. So 2-2...went to a tie break singles match which went to 2 all then 15 all, then Thai player saved 3 match points before winning ...4 hours of pure sporting fun.

Tonight was wrestling..and it was the best of the lot. We got to see Cuban Nunes Lopes, heavyweight wrestling champion who took his 5th consecutive gold medal in a single category...which is a unique achievement which will probably never be surpassed.

He left his shoes in the ring at the end..which is apparently a tradition when a wrestler retires....people were in tears
5 hours of amazing sport.

Completely sold out again...people desperate to buy our tickets on the way in also..

And we met Imogen Grant (lightweight rower gold medalist ) in a restaurant...she was lovely and we saw her medal too.

I am so sad to be leaving tomorrow. It has been one of the most amazing experiences I have done.

.
But hey how I have the Rs to cheer me up on Saturday

As I learned to my cost Aussie, don’t count your chickens…..

…..you are having a sensational games though.

Sb, l was more than happy with the efforts of the swimmers and put the cue in the rack.
Anything they have achieved since then is pure cream.
Everyday, l expect to slide down the table but l do like having a dig at my old mate, Kiwi, especially when he’s comparing us to yanks.
The Aussies certainly have excelled.

Truth is, l like anyone winning except for China ( drug taking cheats ) and the ‘tell the world how great they are’ …..Yanks.

National identity fluidity fun continues with 51 year old Andy MacDonald, who has represented his country of birth, the USA, at skateboarding since 1994, switching to represent GB earlier this year because he fancied a go at the Olympics. His dad was from Scotland.

I think it’s great that athletes, if they are good enough, playing with their passports to get a go on the highest stage.
