Yes, its a charity donation to the faith. Some christian sects also do it. They don't pretend its a tax though. Justbuse emotional blackmail to get the coin.

And Muhammed was the first, it didn't end with him. He just started this trend. Centuries later the modern Jewish conspiracies we see today were coined, within the Islamic world, as to discredit the Jewish faith more.
So again you ignore the facts and try to push your version of the reality!

A non Christian would never get elected. <laugh>

However, in court cases, witnesses may opt to chose a holy book other than the bible to swear upon. I imagine President would do the same.

I know it appears I have an issue with Islam only here but don't get me started on Christianity.

You know luv, I wish people of today we're around when this religious stuff took hold. It wouldn't have stood a chance. Unfortunately religion took hold centuries ago and is now protected in the same way we protect those groups persecuted by religions over and over again.

Even the ever persecuted Jewish people persecuted others. The bible is full of stories of the Jewish people taking slaves and raping the people they fought against.

Not only that but it was encouraged and condoned in the holy book.

Given the attitude over there to atheists, you'd have to be crazy to avoid swearing on the Bible in court, especially if you were the accused.
You'd be instantly ****ed with most of the jury and probably the judge, as well.

I grew up in England. University in the US. I learned world history from a western perspective from western sources. That's hardly hearing it from the oppressor.

You're not going to convince me that paying extra taxes is worse than torture and murder.
You can explain and debate till the cows come home but the reality UIR has own agenda and truth just flies over his head!

I'm technically agnostic. I've no idea if there is a God or not although no religious texts I've read strike me as feasible.

That said, I'd swear on the bible. I wouldn't risk being discriminated against. If people ask me my religious views I tell them... But I never volunteer the fact I'm not Christian in public...

It also tells slaves to obey their owners.
Ephesians 6-5: "Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ."

Ignore what facts? Youve provided non. You think you have but the Jews and Christians plus other third parties who wrote of those times disagree, strongly.

I tend to go with the oppressed rather than the oppressors. The oppressor isn't going to admit it after all.

So wrong. Dont you think?

You clearly have strong opinions on the subject and some of what you say may well have valid points but in any argument there will be a difference of opinion. Whenever someone presents you with information showing you that you have misinterpreted the information or that there is a different perspective you ignore it and continue with your rhetoric resembling an overzealous preacher.
Regardless of history, regardless of the corrupt systems and groups of people who rule them there are good people who follow the basis of religion and the good intentions presented by the fabric within, there's not a lot wrong with the 10 commandments or the 5 pillars of Islam, those people have my respect. It's very much a pity that religion is warped beyond it's intention by the corrupt as the basis is something we should all follow whether we believe in a God or not.

Not disputing that at all.

Jews believe they are the chosen people after all.

It's a common trait in religion.

You're making it black and white when its anything but.

Jews were slaughter under Islamic law. This isn't western literature, this is Jewish literature from the times when they were oppressed by a ruthless empire. That empire was Islam.

Here's a tip, don't believe anything a Muslim or Christian says about Jews and Jewish history. There own beliefs teach them that Jews are evil people and just about falls short of justifying their slaughter.
There you go that's the crux of it really, your unlikely to believe anything that a Muslim or a Christian tells you even if its true! Only true source of information of history lies with the Jewish literature.

How can you debate or correct the misconception when people like UIR have their own agenda and have their mind made up of what they wants to push to people in general!

So I assume currently your going to be fighting for their Palestinians rights now since they are the oppressed now and not believe a word of Israel as they are peddling lies and oppression!

The 10 commandments and 5 pillars are hardly representative of the Abrahamic faiths though, are they?
They're very basic and we all know that each faith has far more instructions that just those.

The 10 commandments are in Exodus and Deuteronomy.
Those chapters go on to condone a meaningless massacre and order genocide.
It's pretty hard to warp that kind of thing, isn't it?

Luv, you have hit the nail on the head! No matter what he has his own agenda!

Do you think man lacked morals before religion?

My word, the copious amounts or irony here.

First, I'm not pushing anything. I doubt very much I will change yours or anyone else's thinking. I am merely exercising my right to comment. Something that wouldnt be allowed under many religions, either through law or society.

Second, true information tends to come from those who have nothing to hide. How many Jews did the Germans say were killer in ww2? They were the oppressors, it was in their interest to deny everything or cover it up.

Third, Jews weren't the only ones.

And finally, how many Jews and Christians live in the middle east now. How many were there before Muhammed? Do not include the state of Israel as that's where the million strong Jewish community in the middle east went. Such is the tolerance shown by Islam.... <whistle>
