I bloody hate this football club as it`s caused me to face a real issue...
There are 2 yellowbelly juniors - one lad (12) and one girl (14).
The lad is football mad and since the last Wembley trip his life long devotion to Sunderland is confirmed - we just had the best of times and he`s not shut up about it since.
My daughter though pays lip-service to being a supporter - her passion is swimming (and she`s good at it - trains 6 days a week; 5.30am starts on two days before school, 7.00am on a Saturday - total of about 17 hours per week training...).
The way that competitive swimming works is that there are some competitions (e.g. county and regional championships) that you need to swim an event within a certain time and you qualify for the event at the competition - for national championships though you need to post one of the fastest 24 times in the event in your age group in Britain within a given window...it doesn`t matter how quick/slow you swim provided you are one of the top 24 times...
That means that there are always a load of competitions throughout the window and that the final weekend is chaos...
The window closes at the end of May and the Yellowbelly tribe is currently due to be at a swimming event in Cardiff whilst daughter swims at a competition to try and secure her place at nationals...she is currently ranked in 5 events
So do I break his heart by not going to Wembley (when will we next get there???) or her heart by not being there to support her (and not being able to either celebrate with her or mop up the tears if she misses out)...
