Just read a piece basically saying that we were flamboyant (Keegan), ridiculous (Kinnear) and short-sighted (Shearer), got relegated, cut budgets, got promoted, kept budgets tight, swapped Hughton (6 months left and doing well enough to get a raise) for Pardew (8 years at minimum wage), kept budgets tight constantly til eventually the sales of Carroll, Cabaye and Debuchy plus the reinvigorated TV money and improved commercial deals (Wonga/Puma) have got us spending £25m+ this Summer, far more than our previous 'best'. The article ambitiously claimed that Pardew had been part of a low-cost model that has finally paid off, but now the money is there - and there's still a fair chunk more - and thanks to TV will always be there (for PL clubs), we will now upgrade the man in charge without much fear.

Makes sense. Shame this is Newcastle United.

How much will we get in the championship?

Yeah you had my eyes steaming until you summed it up with that killer last line <ok>

As if there's any sense of progressive plan being employed. This is operation flatline, as far as I can see!

If it isn't Moyes then I would welcome Steve Bruce here. Not everyon'e cup of tea but he'd be better. As would McLaren though is a bit of a turnip but not a bad club manager.

Apart from those three there's no-one I could imagine wanting to come here that I would want to come.

Expect the next manager to be foreign or Tony Pulis. Wasn't he going to replace Pardew last time he had 2 jobs to save his job. Thankfully (I think) we beat Chelsea and Tottenham.

I read elsewhere the following. Don't laugh too much.

Alan Pardew: “I’m going to say this to the fans – there’s too much information gone out of this training ground to the opposition, and I’m not going to do it any more.

“We need to give ourselves the maximum chance of winning our first away game.

“I apologise to them if they’re not getting the information before the game. I don’t think I should be boarding up the training ground around my main pitch, which I’ve had to do.

“People are coming and looking through the fence, and putting my team on the internet and giving it to the press.

“Therefore, what I have stopped, is the real fans coming to get a view of us.

“That how I’ve got to be, I’m afraid, at this time. If I was top of the league, and everything was rosy, maybe I wouldn’t be so paranoid about it.

“I’ve got to keep on top of this club. My drive to make this a winning club won’t change. If I need to do stuff like that, I’ll do it.”

Yep he's lost it already, the pressure is on and he's cracked. Such is his paranoia, I think someone with da skills should super impose Pardews head onto Gollum's body.

Seriously though I'm worried about Pards mental health now.

This article has a fundamental misunderstanding of why Pardew is manager and what the owner actually expects

If we don't get relegated, Pardew is nailed on to stay.

Survival and profit are all that Ashley cares about.

Does seem shaky, doesn't it? Very odd behaviour.

Oh well. We can look forward to a similar breakdown before long the way things are going. I think it'll be something like:

"I've asked Mike for a roof on the stadium, the aliens have been taking note of my revolutionary tactics and giving them to Van Gaal at Man U. Obviously he is one of them, nobody has a head shaped like that bar Aliens and Butthead of Beavis and Butthead fame. I'm beginning to think Obertan may be in on this alien conspiracy too. We need the roof."
