Its tricky for me. It is hard to work out how likely people would be to work under Ashley. I wouldn't want Pulis. I don't know if he'd be keen on working so under the thumb of the owner. He did change his style somewhat at Palace. Hoddle was a very good manager and would a good appointment. He plays football the right way. He has turned down loads of opportunities to get back in though because they weren't right and he'd want to do things his way. Again I couldn't see him accepting. I wouldn't fancy Moyes, the fans would be on his back in no time as his style of football is pretty unattractive. Again would he really want to work for Ashley?

I think for sure it would be some undesirable who can't get a job. Personally I'd rather we went down the leagues and took a chance on a Eddie Howe or Karl Robinson etc. Ashley wouldn't of course.

Hoddle hasn't managed in eight years. He wasn't exactly an amazing manager when he was in employment save England. Hoddle CLAIMS he has had many offers of management but I find that hard to believe.

He can always bring in some faith healers, that could be good for a laugh I suppose.
 
David Moyes all day long for me, I don't blame him at all for what happened at Man United. They are backing van Gaal now and he'll still have struggles.

David Moyes worked with his hands tied behind his back financially at Everton for years and coached his way to building a great team, reaping the rewards still now under Martinez.

Ashley backs Pardew far more than Kenwright did Moyes and he coped with it – as long as he knows those are the terms I can't see the problem.

For me, Mike Ashley would save himself a lot of fuss, bother and transfer expense by investing more heavily in a good, proven PL manager. The squad is there if you get the tactics and approach right!

He'll have had plenty of offers. His records stands up and you only have to listen to him for 5mins to know he understands football better than most.

He had a very good record as a manager. He was excellent with England. We have not had it that good since. He did terrificly well with Swindon. He began the turnaround at Chelsea and laid the foundations for future successes. He was doing very well at Southampton, before Spurs snaffled him. Spurs was a disappointment overall. They were in poor state leading up to his appointment but better was still expected. Wolves was neither here nor there.

His beliefs are of no importance. I don't believe in god, but then I wouldn't look down my nose at someone like Mourinho is a devout catholic, or Zidane who I believe Muslim, or all the Muslim players. Do I think their belief systems are absolute nonsense and somewhat crazed in parts? I most certainly do. Its just neither here nor there to me as each to their own. Its about football. The mistake he made was talking far too deeply about his beliefs. Some controversial, some not so. I couldn't give a monkeys.

The two issues are his absence, which it is possible to overcome as he has stayed involved in football in various guises from running academys, to media, to now coaching. The big issue would be Ashley. Hoddle is a smart manager who likes things done a certain way. He'd have to do it Mikes way.

So by this logic, black people did something in a previous life to deserve being enslaved, Jews did something to warrant the Holocaust, and so on. If this loon had said something to that extent, rather than about disabled people, he'd never have been seen on TV again, never been given a job in football again.

People saying it doesn't matter, it's his own private beliefs - a load of bollocks. Have you for a second given thought to the disabled fans of our team? He's a disgusting cretin with horribly backward nonsensical views that should not be holding an important public post. David Icke came out with the same sort of bulls**t a few years prior, and we all know what became of him. I don't want that c**t Hoddle anywhere near our team, and I like to think any sensible fan would feel the same way.

I'm all for free speech and religious beliefs, but not when they're publicly broadcast and unquestionably offensive, possibly even incendiary.

I get what you are saying and I too found his comments about disabled people (and people suffering pain and hardship in general) absolutely disgusting. However, there is a big difference between Hoddle and Icke. David Icke is still peddling crap about his ever increasingly mad and paranoid views of the world. Glenn Hoddle immediately apologised for any offence he caused and tried to clarify what he actually said. More importantly than that though, he later came out and admitted that his beliefs about reincarnation had been wrong and renounced what he had said completely. At the time that he fell in with Eileen Drury and those who 'helped' him come to faith he was in his 30s, coming to the end of a playing career and in a marriage that was failing. When he made the disabled comments his marriage had not long ended and he had been drawn deeper into his religious beliefs by what was little better than a cult. I know I made some stupid decisions in my thirties when my marriage failed and would hate to think that because of them I never deserved another chance.

Regardless of blame though, the question is whether or not people deserve to be punished forever for mistakes or do they pay the consequences and then get to move on with their life like everyone else?

A fine short script and why it shouldn't matter. He made a mistake, apologised for it and has moved on. Its time other people did too. The bloke made public some fairly bizarre and in one line offensive views. However he also realised it was an error. he did not mention Jews or Blacks, enslavement or otherwise. BRS is stretching the realms of reality to suit his personal viewpoint. It seems there is an inability to accept that it takes allsorts and people make mistakes. All I can say is there some perfect people out there!

Any decision made whether to appoint him as a manager should be made on his ability as a manager. Personally I think he has been a massive loss to the English game. He should never have been forced out of the England job. Its just people desire to hold a grudge and stay offended even after people have acknowledged their error.

Sounds pretty clear cut to me - people persecuted in this life are being punished for something they did in a past life. I'm not stretching anything - only loon Hoddle is stretching reality. You might share my 'personal viewpoint' (and there was me thinking you didn't have one of those) if you had a disabled relative, who you've seen go through some real **** in his life, and it's broken your heart. What gives Hoddle the right to judge disabled people? Or anyone for that matter? How dare he. It's offensive in the extreme. If you believe this idiocy at least keep it to yourself. But to come out with it in an interview, quite unashamedly, knowing it will be printed - says a hell of a lot about the man. I expect he's only apologized now because he knows it's the only way he can stay in football.

No-one is perfect. But then not all of us are put in the public limelight, given huge roles which carry huge responsibility. If the head of a bank, or a politician, came out tomorrow and professed to similar beliefs, his position would become untenable. But just because someone can kick a football and manage a team we in this country seem to cut them an extraordinary amount of slack.

Karma and causality are central to a lot of hindu, buddhist etc belief systems. There are of course different extremes to which they take this. His views are not all that uncommon in certain parts of the world. Here some find them deeply offensive but that's simply because it is a foreign belief to us. He'd have been well within his rights to challenge his dismissal on religious discrimination and he would likely have had a very strong case. Its about freedom of speech. I would not change my standpoint if I had disabled relative, because I do! Holding this religious belief does not prevent you having empathy with disabled people or people who have suffered. Indeed Hoddle fundraised for disabled charitites long before the furore and long after (I think he still does) He apologised immediately and was very open about his misjudgement of airing views publically that some would find difficult to understand.

It comes down to a complete lack of understanding of religious beliefs. I personally think its a load of ****e and this kind of highlights why. I find something offensive in most religious belief though. If the head of bank or politician made such comments in India, not an eye would be blinked. Maybe in this country they'd be asked to apologise for any offence, but you'd be on very shaky ground trying to dismiss them. Indeed it is only in the media driven world of football where you could get away with dismissing someone for their beliefs without any comeback.

The bloke has been wronged and suffered an injustice.

Just read a piece basically saying that we were flamboyant (Keegan), ridiculous (Kinnear) and short-sighted (Shearer), got relegated, cut budgets, got promoted, kept budgets tight, swapped Hughton (6 months left and doing well enough to get a raise) for Pardew (8 years at minimum wage), kept budgets tight constantly til eventually the sales of Carroll, Cabaye and Debuchy plus the reinvigorated TV money and improved commercial deals (Wonga/Puma) have got us spending £25m+ this Summer, far more than our previous 'best'. The article ambitiously claimed that Pardew had been part of a low-cost model that has finally paid off, but now the money is there - and there's still a fair chunk more - and thanks to TV will always be there (for PL clubs), we will now upgrade the man in charge without much fear.

Makes sense. Shame this is Newcastle United.
