Absolutely ludicrous. A few bad results in the next and they'll turn on him quick as a flash.
Before their fortunate draw at Everton there were already whispers of unrest.
lol @ the addition of the word "fortunate". And It was all all bullshit rumours. He won't be manager in two year, so will get a lovely pay out to pump straight back into the casino
And, as others have said, Ashley is a smart businessman and not stupid, he wouldn't just hand him an 8 year contract without a good reason.
Let's not forget, it's not just pardew who got 8 years, it's his whole coaching set up as well. To me, pardew has done a cracking job and he and his team have done it working with in mike Ashley's constraints and seem happy enough to do it. Ashley is on to a good thing with pardew and like wise, pardew won't get a better gig than Newcastle. It's the message behind the deal that is more important for me. We all know contracts aren't worth the paper they are printed on in football but the bloke has a nice safety blanket now and is free to get on with it. Only thing confussing me is the timing. It's not like pardew is in his last year on his existing deal but we don't know the ins and outs of what they have agreed on. If this is pointing towards solid stability then it can't be a bad thing no matter how we look at it from an nufc point of view.
Sir John Hall gave Keegan a ten year one didn't he?
I'll say one thing for Keegan mind, he never held the club to ransom.
He just walked, a bit like Keane did with us.
They'd both have been entitled to sit & wait for the pay off at the end of the day.
True Rotten Feet but was on about the first time, when he got the big contract,Keegan took Ashley up and got a few million though.

!Just a very good move. Its about having confidence in the project. We clearly do and rightly so because it has been functioning very well over the last 2 years. We've gone from being a bit of a shambles to people wanting to copy our model (including Sunderlands owner). He's proved good value has Pardew and has been rewarded accordingly. As the lowest paid manager in the league, he'll have got himself a decent bump wages. Ashley seems keen to ensure continual progress. He has him tied in on a wage for 8 years. This means if Pardew is going to ask for more at any time in the next 8 years, he is going to have to ensure we keep on improving to prove he is worth more.
You need to explain that one a bit more as I cant see how we have copied anything here, which Ashley has implemented at newcastle, in the past 2 years?
ALL teams are watching the purse strings so there is nothing uniquely newcastle about that but in signing Cuellar and Saha, we are not soley looking a young players to sell on and in Johnson and Fletcher we have paid top dollar for established British EPL players?
We haven't given ANYONE on the playing staff 5 year contracts and NO-ONE on the coaching or management staff 8 year ones.
We haven't sold the stadium name or caused a rift between fans and club and we dont have a despised boardroom.
On top of that we are not planning to sell red & white ****ing jump suits either. Lol
Please explain yourself fully?
I'd go along with that. He might be a vile individual but he aint thick.
