All the targets other than clean sheets and saving money have been failures. At least we saved money on win bonuses
2015/16 PL wasted money on some poor players, demoted. 2016/17 Championship less money, finish 8th 2017/18 Championship even less money, finish 13th 2018/19 Championship even less money (no parachute payments at all?) finish? Today really showed us what a poorer team we would have been this season without Maddison, injured after 10 mins. Another year of transition next season.
I agree. I am glad I surrendered my season ticket last season. I have been to Carrow Road only 8 times this season - seen two wins (Boro, Villa), two defeats (Sunderland, Brentford) and 4 draws. Apart from the game against the Villains the rest was uninspiring, unemotional, and underwhelming which, to me, is the key word to describe this season. Can I see it improving next season - not at this stage but I remain eternally hopeful that I will be wrong. OTBC.
Well, I've just bought a half share of an 'over 65' ST for next season and at £170 each, I thought it was reasonable value. #timewilltell
To be honest at the start of the season I would have taken finishing 2 places above you.......but it’s not as good as I thought it would be.
The funny thing is a lot of the happy clappers have been hanging their hat on, on the pitch "he's sorted the defence out". 5-1.
Do we think after that embarrassment, they might feel forced into bringing in some players with some actual quality for position we actually need? Could a positive from that game, and that finish in the table that it might finally be a wake up call? That you can't play a whole season without a proper striker. 21 shots. 2 on target. 1 goal. The same story on repeat.
You make a good point FM! and let's HOPE that yesterday's thrashing does act as a 'wake up call' for SW/DF and as was mentioned on another thread, why not take a gamble and at least give Idah a chance in pre season before another team grabs him as Rangers did with Middleton
Just any other striker. He knocked all the confidence out of Nelson by no playing him, then making a point to him by not picking him when fit. He has looked useless since Farke did that. Srbeny isn't a Championship player from the times I've watched him. He's had all season to pick anyone else. Because what he's been doing hasn't worked all season. Playing 2 up front when we need a goal might help as well!
For anyone who was at the game, was there a particularly obvious flaw? A Tettey-less midfield failing to stop forward runners from exposing the defence? Inability at set pieces? Lack of cohesiveness? All of the above? I guess I'm pinning my hopes for next season on the fact that Farke/Webber must have learned something from this season, and with 12 months rather than 2 to prepare for the transfer window, will do even better business. Also several of our existing squad will benefit from a season of bedding in. Replacing Maddison and Gunn is a big ask though!
