Just to reiterate here...as the only mod with the right credentials to have a major role in this film.... UTR ...this film just ain't gonna happen......I would like to suggest that films featuring firemen coming to the rescue of damsels in distress are so much more marketable.....

To be fair I don't think COL is a racist. He's just very zealous in his nationalism and that can sometimes be misinterpreted as racism. Not everyone in UKIP for example would be a racist but because they have an anti-foreigner undertone they all get labelled with it.

I can see why Queens etc could make that mistake but a mistake it is all the same.

Fair of you to say that. We could argue over whether it is Nationalism or Patriotism, but I fear we've been there before. Fair comment though. <applause>

If somebody in UKIP was racist then they would be kicked out of the party

An exaggeration - he said where no one is speaking English. UKIP must tread a careful line. If they tolerate bigots they'll lose the support of reasonable people, as Mosley did in the early 30's. But if they argue re numbers coming in, our desired population density etc they will get more of an audience

No, what he SAID was that he was on a train and others were not speaking English, and it made him uncomfortable. This despite his wife speaking German at home.

Given that their entire platform is an exaggeration to generate fear amongst the ignorant, I feel fine about a little poetic licence. Any comment on the Romanians quote? Interesting that you compare them to Mosley, even I hadn't made that leap. Why must UKIP tread a careful line - so they can attract racist and non-racist voters without being labelled racist? The racist taboo is pretty strong nowadays.

Is it what i think obout my origional post? Believe me, i had a month to read over that post and did so many times deciding whether it was correct or not. I still stand by it if thats wht youre asking?

No - he was travelling through South London stations on the train and he said it was not until Grove Park that he could hear English being audibly spoken in the carriage. He wasn't observing that some were speaking in foreign languages, but that no one was speaking English and it made him feel "slightly awkward"
