Last year it was 72% of turnover, it must be through the bloody roof right now honestly, surely we have to get selling, angeleri, killgallon, nosworthy, Ferdinand, Gordon would surely all have to go just keep the wage bill at the same level, players like brown and o Shea will be earning 30/40k a week of us, we can't manage a wage bill this high

Think it has gone up by over £1m a month so far. This is the scary part...

It can not be substained,

People want the Wigan Womble? add another 60k a week to the expanding wage bill, it has to stop somewhere, until we offload, and we need to shift a fair few to counter balance what we are spending now.

Tried guessing at this myself yesterday in terms of wages:

IN
O'Shea 40k
Brown 40k
Larsson 30k
Gardner 30k
Vaughan 20k
Dong 15k
Westwood 20k
Whickam 30k

So thats about 235k/week!!! (purely guesswork I know)

Going out (including Bent) I reckon

Bent 40k (more maybe)
Henderson 30k (just signed new deal last season)
Muntari 40k
Welbeck 15k
Onuoha 25k
Mensah 40k
Reid 30k

which is 220k/week just there.

I agree we need to get shot of big earners like Nyron, McCartney and Kilgallon but I dont reckon we are paying much more than we were last year!

We have 7 weeks left in the transfer window. I'm sure we'll be seeing plenty of departures in that time. Talk about Keano's legacy!!

Don't forget Healy and Murphy were supposedly on 25k a week each, and they will have featured in last years figures.

I think the wages will be pretty similar to last year, and if we parted with Gordon, Steed and McCartney (who is supposedly on 40k a bastard week...), we'll be in the black.

Kilgallon and Angleri will shift a few quid on top.

RedandWhite Tractor has put what I was about to post (plus Riveros)

I thought our wage bill must be going up a lot but when you consider the eight (so far) that have gone it ceases to be a problem.

I think its worth noting that 70% or 80% of turnover in a service based industry is slightly different to a manufacturing situation.

i.e. if we turnover 70m and our wages are 80%.
Wages are 56m
GP 14m

Our stadium is paid for. We have a sustainable debt.

We are solvent without the need for outside funding? We have no material costs other than players and we are self funding that at the moment.

Dont worry about the wages. The better we do in the league the more we earn anyway. Another 2 or 3 places up the league is worth another 5m or 6m on its own.
