We are on the right track, no doubt. I have some involvement in academy setups and our reputation is very good. People might shudder, but Johnson was integral to that, and Mowbray now. Clubs loaning us players are interested in our style of play and coaching setup. We are getting it right.

We now need to push doubly hard on our own academy players. There are 4 or 5 in there with a massive reputation. They need to come to out first team. Mowbray will be massive in that. The next big hurdle is to get a 2 year badge on our cat1 academy. In some ways the academy setup and reputation is what will make or break us over the next 5 years. I spoke to someone who visited us a couple of weeks ago and they said we are on massive mission at that level.

Like you say, we are a club doing things right. Lets keep pushing hard.

Thats not the model though, if we get a good enough offer he will go. Thats just the way its going to be now and I fully agree with going down that route.
Depends on where we are in the league, our progress etc

I don't see him going anywhere in January if we are doing ok. For one, we need to replace him that's easier in the summer window. And also, if we're in a good place end of season, his price increases, the wages he can ask for increase, especially as it would be more likely that a premier League Club comes in for him.

Not saying he definitely won't if a daft offer comes in, but I think it makes more sense for both parties to wait until summer

... as a club since KLD arrived.

It's not so long since we were a basket case with a collection of ropey players and supporters saying they'd had enough. Now we're selling out away and packing 'em in at home. The atmosphere has improved, home and away, and we're learning a little patience in games like last night at Huddersfield.

The squad has been changed beyond recognition and the team spirit appears to be good no matter who plays. They don't seem to whinge if they're rotated and, despite their young age, don't seem to be causing the club any bother on or off the pitch.

That's all great but it's our reputation with the big clubs, their supporters and prospective signings, on loan or permanent, that's really impressing me.

We've signed players who wouldn't contemplate going to some of our rivals and seem to enjoy the trust of clubs with their young lads.

If anyone's still believing Donald is involved, or doubting KLD, then I'd be amazed.

I still can’t work out these people saying Speakman should be sacked as we don’t have a striker. Completely ignoring all of the good. Yes he should be blamed for that, but, for me, the good he’s brought in far outweighs the bad that he hasn’t got another forward

I know the model hasn't been laid out in fine detail and in theory selling Stewart for a profit is the model but I hope there are exceptions allowed in the model.

I've said before I think he will be the hardest to replace, I think that presence up top is so important and I honestly don't think we will find another with his work ethic alongside his other abilities. Imo he should be priced at a cost that would put buyers off as its daft money for him, like 20 plus. Only thing likey to scupper that is it sounds like he has had his head turned with the chance of premier league football!

Is that where LJ came in? He was well in with the 'City Group' iirc. Hopefully we maintain and enhance those links, plenty of talent on City's books we could give an opportunity to.
Not too sure mate, I only know a handful of academy coaches and they wont kmow ins and outs. He was a very highly rated coach when he came here, and Pep had bigged him up at one point so maybe. Big clubs nowadays appoint people to lool after players out on loan. More likely that as City will have visited us and been quite regular visitors for Doyle. The fact we are cat1 is also a massive deal.

I dont watch much either, just what I am told mate. You have probably seen Zak Johnson - he might be next in the first team. Bainbridge, Cains, Watson all supposed to be doing well at u18s. There is a keeper but I cant remember his name.

Yeah I know of Johnson but not the others, lad at work reckons Harrison Bond will break through same school and youth side as Pickford but is a Washington mag so thinks they’ll poach him

Ive seen a few youth games over the last 18 months or so. Heres a few that stand out for me:
We have 4 good GKs, carney, richardson, bond and a young lad called Young who just made his debut for the U18s.

Zak johnson looks like a baller at CB and is a regular at u21 level despite him being 17/18. I like ben williams n fieldson, both 2 good young cbs - fieldson has played for england at u16 level.

Bainbridge has done well this season so intrigued to see how he progresses.

The 3 i particularly like are
Tom Watson - forward
Chrissy rigg - cm, the boy is different level to any youngster I've seen at our academy
Mason crotcher - striker

Gives you a few names to keep an eye on mate

Keep it coming marra....love it.

Chris Rigg is the one going to Newcastle though isn't he? I thought that was pretty much a dead cert? Would be awesome if we managed to retain him

Yep. I’d be shocked if he didn’t leave for the scum soon. We’ll get good money but it’s frustrating.
