Stewart Donald needs to come out of hiding , last year he was a hero and lapped it up as we just fell short of promotion and were runners up in the EFL Trophy . In football things don’t always go to plan but when the going gets tough the tough get going , leadership comes from the top and unless their is leadership things will continue to go wrong , as a club we were exactly the same recently with Ellis Short abandoning us to an extent . I think it totally wrong that he and his family were subjected to abuse but unfortunately most Chairmen at virtually all clubs will have all endured such treatment at some point ,it’s not right but he should have to an extent expected it . Hiding away is not the answer to your problems , the fans in question who were responsible are a very small minority and the majority accept mistakes but require action to put things right and remain loyal fans of the club .

Donald is a total chancer/opportunist, which is becoming more evident. The handling of everything this season has been diabolical - you're only as good as your last game and he and charley are getting humped 10 nowt at home, up the arse. I have no idea wtf Tony Coton does, but he appears to be remarkably **** at it.

Tbf, you don't know that. The biggest moaners may well be the 'watch it in the pub' lads, the most positive ones may be the SC holders. Or vice-versa. What's undeniable is that we currently have an awful lot of self-entitled arseholes who think SAFC have some sort of divine right not to be a L1 club, and have an need to blame someone/anyone that we are. I blame Brexit.

I've been going since 1981 and, since Bruce was here, can;t remember a season where the crowd thought "Let's just get behind them" instead of expecting!
There's nothing to support at the moment - we're awful to watch - yet still only a couple of wins from the promotion spots. We've not "sheered them on forever" I can;t remember the last time we were playing OK but not winning and the crowd got behind the team. The crowd don't cheer them on and the atmosphere is ****e at the SoL. Every week "is this a Library" gets sung to us - because we don;t cheer them on. Every time SAFC come to town at an away game the away team lift themselves and the away crowd do too. I often wonder how much impact the negativity from minute 1 impacts the players. Surely it must.
This isn't me blaming all of the crowd but we have some horrendously negative fans who seem to "expect" success - arrogance!
I get that "they have to give to get" - I do, but I also think a bit of atmosphere created by the crowd helps a team. Our home crowd have almost been the oppositions 12th man at times! Catch 22 I know.
I'll keep backing the team. Booing them during a game poses absolutely no point and is nothing but detrimental to a performance (besides, we've played 2 home league games under Parkinson and won them both to nil)
It never used to - Roker park was bouncing before kick off in the 80s even when we were 12th in the old 3rd division
The positives:
We are in a position to challenge for promotion.
The heavy wages and dead wood have been cleared.
Investment has been put in.
On the flip side, if we are still in league one next season, then I think it's time to start asking questions.
But getting on the owners/players backs half way through a really important season, with promotion still achievable, is just stupidity.
I get that mate, I’d never turn inside the stadium, I’m always careful to avoid singling our individual players as a whole as well.
The issue, in my opinion, is we are now feeling like it’s a far deeper rooted issue and not one that’s easily cleared.

The managerial change was a chance to lift the whole place, they botched it, then come out and say ‘we can’t afford to fix facilities at the stadium’.
Then sell the club. If they ‘can’t afford’ basic maintenance how on earth can they dream of fixing the on field mess?

You make good points but how about the team give the fans something to cheer about??? People constantly forget, and choose to ignore that this is still an entertainment. If the paying punters don't like what they see then ofcourse there is going to be unrest. Fans are doing their part by turning up, buying strips funding sky and BT yet it's the poor rich players who get all the sympathy. Its about ****ing time they done their part. If they're not good enough to do that then fingers should be pointed at the chairman. I'm not advocating booing or turning it into a cauldron of hate, but it's time we stopped getting bent over and just taking it....
Fair point but sadly it's the way football fans have developed imo. The SOL can be bouncing on it's day but can count on 1 hand the amount of decent atmospheres there's been recently.
If we were top of league 1 playing decent football then I'd guess this would be replicated in the stands. But the current state we're in you can't really blame any fan who's paid their hard earned cash for turning up and being a bit miserable
I suppose you're both right - agree wholeheartedly mind. (Although I'll be amazed if many of our current team are "millionaires" - most "only" earn around £4-5k a week. OK it's significantly more than most of us do but it's not the millions of the championship and premier league players.
Agree @country_roads that fans have evolved into the "expectant" bunch - when we played in the 80s and early 90s, people related to players as the players earned a similar wage. Eric Gates (not sure of your ages) said he'd rather play than train - we used to have players who'd play Saturday, Monday in the reserves, weednesdasy for the first team and that was their life. Different era then!
I love making a noise at the ground, love getting behind the team regardless of performance, but the amount of dirty looks you get from others at the game is a disgrace IMO.
Have to say I am a self professed "happy clapper" - I have a very positive outlook no matter what. I look at the league and see us only a few points away from a promotion push. Thos who are more negative always say "I'm just being realistic" when, in realtiy, they're no more realistic than me, just less hopeful!!

I will never stop believing we will be back mate. I honestly believe this season is gone though. We are getting worse by the game.

'It's the fans fault' is some trying to say supporters negativity on forums somehow seeps through to the players... I am sometimes negative about players on forums...but like most fans never at the match...most still cheer Griggs when he does something useful and if he looks like trying. If overpaid footballers cannot take some social media criticism, frankly they are wimps. As for some eg Roswell!
Does the new owner and manager deserve criticism for crap play, most certainly. But in their defence most thought Griggs was going to be on fire... instead he is a spluttering squib. They however must take the blame.
Imho I know the whole Wembley tinpot cup was great in some ways, however with hindsight we had too many crowded games and injuries so just failed to get into the championship...Owner/manager should have been cooler/ wiser.
We have now dumped Ross and brought in Parkinson... it's not working... should have bagged some like big Sam...or are we doing a Leeds except in the turd division for the next umpteen years!
Players have evolved as well mind mate. I don't go out much these days but there used to be quite alot of interaction around the town with them, now they are well above mingling with the riff raff that keep their careers going.
We’ve never been this low in the clubs history, hard to blame people for not being accustomed to it and disliking it. Some of the abuse towards the owners has been a bit extreme but that’s the internet unfortunately.
